Karst41
Just when we think we have seen / heard it all, now we get treated to new terminology. "Hybrid Players".So now we are phishing for draft picks in Lake Lanier?Just what is a Hybrid Player anyway?A player that can play DE or OLB is not a Hybrid he is a Tweener.Being that the player is smallish for the DE position in a 4-3 and isalmost too big for an OLB.These players are best suited for the 3-4 Defense. Here is a must read for the "Hybrid Player" in a 3-4.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football_strategyEnd-O-Rant
muskokas finest ©
Tweener is typically a negative term attached to a player who can play 2 positions but is generally considered to have speed or size concerns that prevent them from being a top prospect/player at either position
Draftnut57
Hybrid is a very positive term if a player is branded with it, that means you can play many positions well , And some of the Hybrids in this draft I would like for us to draft are , Conner Barwin , Clint Sintim , Larry English , Chris Clemons who can play CB/FS/SS Keenan Lewis who can play CB/FS, Joe Burnett who is a very good CB and a KR. Brandon Williams OLB/DE , Andy Levitre who can play C/G/T, and Max Unger who can play C/G/T very well. In order to be a hybrid not only can you play many position , you have to be able to play them well. Hybrid is a very postive term for the players being drafted. You can be called a tweener and still not be a very good player. Hybrids are players who can play many positions at a high level.

Draftnut57
Great example of a Hybrid is Nic Harris from Oklahoma , he played CB, FS,SS,MLB,ST in College. But I don't think he can play at a high level at all those positions in the Pros. I'd say he will be a better OLB in the pros. He to slow to play S in the NFL. He was a Hybrid in College but I'd say he will be a tweener in the NFL. But I do think he will be able to play one position well , reminds me of Roy Williams Dallas. Karst41
Funny replies. At DE, PK really set the Gold Standard at the size rangebetween 6'4 - 6'6 265- 290 weight range.Looking at a player like Kruger, this kid fits the mold nicelyat DE.He will enter the the NFL about 1-15 lbs under weight which isnormal for a kid entering the Pros.He will put on additional weight and will be at the 282 weight range in 2seasons.My point being that, if a team (4-3) wants an effective edge rusher, thenyou simply draft the right player for that position. Also I do not mean to underestimate a player between 6'2 - 6'4 but, at DE he has to be a very rugged, durable, and FAST!IMO this is a risk in the 4-3 but a very nice fit in a 3-4.When talking about Hybrids/Tweeners, its all hype with no mentionof what it cost to sign these players. They are more abundant and come with a lower cost.
Dr. Zanzibar
At the 24 pick we will draft a Prius for Dimitroff to drive to work.

I agree with you on Harris straight OLB, which is why he is going to drop.
