Gimmesomo!!! 103
I'm curious to know how everybody feels about his play this year. I think he play @ a C+ to B- level. I know he's just a rookie and a 2nd Round pick at that. But with the play of recent LB phenoms like Beason and Willis I have to admit I want my MLB to be the opposite of what the QB is to the offense. I really don't think Lofton has the speed to play in the middle.
Statick 13,224
Lofton...best MLB we've had since Tuggle.B+
Mr Pickle1 683
Hmm. I thought he was quite good. B+ to A- . He's not as good or Beason or Willis, but does he really have to be? We spent a 2nd rounder on him, he wasn't a top 10 pick like Willis. He's going to be better than all but a handful of MLB's in the league, I think. He's actually looked quick and fast to me. He's explosive when running to the football, and quick jumping around blocks. And he DID run a 4.6 at Oklahoma's pro day, on a slow track. I think if we want him to get better, though, we need to do a better job of keeping blockers off him.
SWIFT HITTER 1,016
I was Lofton biggest fan I wanted him drafted more then anything so my view can be opposed as a bias view but he played at a B- level I will agree..My opinion he was used wrong in our scheme. If anyone recalls he made a big play vs Eagles in McNabb on a blitz..I wish more blitz packages were used with Lofton instead of sending Boley or Brooking..Plus the middle of our rush defense wasnt really gashed..It was more outside the Tackles then anything..He made some nice plays chasing down Larry Johnson on the outside. He also needs to do a better job read and reacting and shedding off blocks...He will be solid for years to come.. formul8or 0
BHe is solid and an excellent tackler, but by no means will teams have to gameplan around him because he lacks speed.
The Don™ 4,721
He speed might a little slow, but his game speed is intense and adrenaline driven. I think he will be GREAT, eventually. He needs to work on shedding blocks and pass coverage. A full off season with the same coaches should help him out a ton.
FalconFanForLife 2,097
I thought he had a really good rookie season myself, and for a second round pick I would give him an A myself. He played the middle solid all year long. What else can you ask a rookie to do?
duncja 1,086
A legit NT will help him tremendously
Da_Truth 1,907
Like a rookie...some good plays and some bad. Seemed to be out of place most times; but he'll get better with experience. I like the fact that he's physical and can attack the ball. I would say he has more upside and down.
Captain Falcon 677
Using madden standards, I'd rate him an 85.
Da_Truth 1,907
A legit NT will help him tremendouslyExactly!!! Ray Lewis argued the same thing...that he needed a massive NT to keep linemen off of him. I notice that our LBs always seem to get wiped out by OL reaching the second level of defense. We need our own Haloti Ngata and watch our LBs look like superstars.
The Don™ 4,721
A lot of his scouting reports say he is solid in zone coverage, and they say he is VERY smart and doesn't get caught out of position often. Those are things that he struggled at this year.
Gimmesomo!!! 103
The kid did great. He was thinking more then reacting as any rookie will do. He made alot of plays and plays sideline to sideline. He will be an all pro within 3 years. And for those of u who ever played football, a 4.6 is flying. Emmitt Smith ran a 4.6, as did Walter Peyton. Ever see Jerry Rice's 40 yard times? So lets not worry abt stupid 40 times. The kids a ball player. Period.Your reply is 90% optimism and 10% factual, Lofton definitely lacks sideline to sideline speed which was very evident. I actually think he could afford to drop 8-10 lbs without losing his 'pop' ability and at the same time pick up a bit of speed as well. Although, I may sound 'haterish' I'm really glad we got 'em cause I know he's gonna be solid, I just wanna see guys that want it...and for some odd reason I don't feel as if Keith Brooking helped his development... SkySorrOW 36
I feel he was like we were wishing for when signing Hartwell.. a tough MLB who dominates anyone who comes near him.. Maybe like Ray Lewis with less speed/nastiness.. but hopefully that'll come with time.
nobkowski 404
I don't give part-time players good grades. Unless they really make impacts like Abe. But he gets injured every game.Lofton played okay for a rook in his role.
The Gritz Blitz 5
Im waiting for Flyfalconfan to come in here. Start some crap saying he isn't elite and is no Ray Lewis. Then call someone a racist.

eoin daly 4
I think Lofton had a good year, not a great year but a good one. He made some great plays and was very good against the run. His coverage must need some work though, he was always taken out in passing situations. I think we got ourselves a very good MLB
Che 3
He did a great job. You can't expect every rookie to just come in and play at a pro bowl level immediately. I can't wait to see how he does next season after the experience he has gained and a familiarity with the system.
thestufford 151
Lofton had a good year... but I think this next year he will become our version of Jon Beason. He will be a very good player for us in the near future

Deacon 13 44
Hard to judge when he is playing behind the likes of Jason Jefferson and Kindal Moorehead 30% of the time.

Seriously you put a better front four in front of Lofton and he sheds 8-10lbs He will be a MONSTER
