Auburn defensive lineman Sen'Derrick Marks said early Tuesday morning that he will enter the NFL draft, and announce it at a news conference later in the day.

Marks, a junior, said that he stands 6 foot 2 and recently weighed in at 302 pounds.

"I can play both defensive tackle and defensive end," Marks said. "I want to be a player like Albert Haynesworth in the NFL. I know it's going to take hard work and dedication, but I'm going to bring my hard hat every day. I know that now, it's not just a game. It's a job. And I'm ready for that."

Marks said Tommy Tuberville's departure from Auburn had nothing to do with his decision to leave. Marks said he had good discussions with new coach Gene Chizik, but is simply ready to leave school. Marks had 10½ tackles for loss, including two sacks this season and a forced fumble.

Marks said junior defensive lineman Antonio Coleman might be following him to the NFL. He said he was told that Coleman will hold his own new conference at his high school later in the week.

Draft Scout Player News

12/14/08 - Gene Chizik will be formally introduced Monday as Auburn's football coach. As soon as that's done, he'll have a lot of work to do. The former Tigers defensive coordinator needs to assemble a staff and salvage recruiting following Tommy Tuberville's resignation. He also faces some skepticism among fans, in part because his Iowa State team lost its final 10 games this season, leaving his record there at 5-19 in two seasons. "I know that we have found the right fit for Auburn," Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said in a statement, describing Chizik as "a high-energy coach that is an outstanding motivator and demands a tough, physical style of football." When Chizik was the defensive coordinator at Auburn in 2004, the Tigers went 13-0 and the next year he went to Texas. With him as defensive coordinator, the Longhorns also went 13-0 and won the national championship. The 46-year-old Chizik was hired Saturday in Memphis, Tenn., after three final days of negotiations and two face-to-face meetings with Auburn officials. - AP Sports

12/10/08 - 2008 ALL-SEC SECOND TEAM (Coaches): DL Sen'Derrick Marks Auburn 6-2 296 Jr. Mobile, Ala., has been selected All-Southeastern Conference football Second Team for the 2008 college football season as voted on by the league head coaches. Marks, who was an honorable mention All-SEC pick by the AP, finished the season with 32 tackles (15 solo, 17 assists), including 10 tackles for loss, which is tied for 10th in the SEC. He also collected two quarterback sacks, two pass break-ups, two quarterback hurries and a blocked field goal. - Auburn football

12/09/08 - Only one Auburn player was named to the Associated Press All-SEC teams on Monday. Junior defensive end Antonio Coleman was named to the first team. Junior tackle Sen'Derrick Marks received an honorable mention. Both players have said they plan to explore the NFL draft, although Marks has suggested he is leaning toward a return to Auburn. Coleman led Auburn with six sacks and 101/2 tackles for loss this season. He also had 46 tackles (29 solo) and a team-high 13 quarterback hurries. He was named the SEC defensive lineman of the week after Auburn's victory against Tennessee. Auburn has had a defensive end on the All-SEC first team for three straight seasons. Current Jacksonville Jaguars player Quentin Groves was named to the team in 2006 and 2007. - Evan Woodbery, The Huntsville Times

12/08/08 - 2008 ALL-SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE FOOTBALL HONORABLE MENTION (Media): Sen'Derrick Marks, T, Auburn, 6-2, 296, Jr., has been selected All-SEC football Honorable Mention for the 2008 college football season as voted on by the Associated Press. Marks tied for 10th in the SEC with 10 tackles for loss, and finished the season with 32 tackles overall (15 solo, 17 assists). He also collected two quarterback sacks, two pass break-ups, two quarterback hurries and a blocked field goal. - Auburn football

12/03/08 - Tommy Tuberville’s tenure as Auburn head coach is apparently over. According to multiple reports, Tuberville is out after 10 seasons at the helm. While ESPN is reporting that Tuberville has been fired, The Opelika-Auburn News said that he resigned. The school would not confirm the reports when contacted by PA SportsTicker. Auburn has a team meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. EST. After winning 42 games over the last four seasons, Tuberville and the Tigers stumbled to a 5-7 mark in 2008, failing to qualify for a bowl for the first time since 1999. This would bring an end to a tumultous season for Auburn, which also fired offensive coordinator Tony Franklin in October. The Tigers were 110th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging just 17.3 points per contest. Auburn’s season came to a disappointing end Saturday with a 36-0 loss to top-ranked and rival Alabama. That loss ended the Tigers’ six-game winning streak over the Crimson Tide. In his 10-year tenure at Auburn, Tuberville compiled an 85-40 record, including 52-30 within the Southeastern Conference. Auburn finished second in the nation during its undefeated 2004 campaign, which culminated with a 16-13 victory over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. - SportsTicker
