Return-of-the-Falcon
impressive, considering LSU has black and johnson
totalbirdbrain
I'll really be interested to see him during the 1-on-1 drills at the Senior Bowl practices.
millenium falcon
pretty good. he probably bounces off a mcnabb or tavarus jackson on one of those sacks though. still, pretty quick, although lined up dangerously close to the neutral zone and looked to jump early on one play. bottom line, he had a good game against LSU. i do like him and would be glad to get him or raji in the bottom of rd 1. the one guy i might like better is evander hood. i want to see some of his highlights. Norwood32
To me it seems that BJ Raji is quicker off the snap.
jjthefalcon
Jerry maybe a lil lighter than Raji but i would say has just as much strength and definately better mobility than Raji does, although Raji's spin move was quite impressive for a guy his size. i say take the guy who goes up against the better OL's week in and week out and that would be Jerry. Mr. Offseason
To me it seems that BJ Raji is quicker off the snap.really? i thought if anything jerry had a slight edge in quickness off the snap. he is usually the first one off the snap and raji can be off the snap quickly but sometimes (like jerry) he is the last one off. both need to play with better leverage though. the difference, to me at least, is that when raji plays with leverage he is borderline unblockable because he is so strong. he can walk OG's into the QB with ease. i really havent seen jerry do that. raji looks better on stunts also, and has displayed a NASTY spin move. a few times a game he gets off the line ok, punches the lineman and then disengages and flies by them with the spin move. now on one hand that means he may be more nfl ready as a pass rusher because he stunts better and has another move in his bag of tricks than jerry does. but it also means that as jerry develops more moves (which i definately think he will) he may have a higher ceiling than raji.its a tough call, i definately like both of them. raji seems to be better against the run but sometimes a bit lazy or unaware against down blocks from LT's. theyve cleaned him out at times to create a hole on that side. jerry has a better motor and in my opinion is slightly faster off the line. he stands up to double teams well when he PLAYS WITH LEVERAGE just like raji does, but raji is stronger i think and can dominate in the middle. im not sure jerry can or will dominate like raji can.anyways, if spikes declares its all moot because id pick him over both these guys right now. but if i HAD to make a choice today i think it might be raji... but its a very close call.-Mr. Offseason
Happy Mondays
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Jerry going to be 25 yrs old by the time the 2009 season starts??

Mr. Offseason
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Jerry going to be 25 yrs old by the time the 2009 season starts??whats the story behind that one? did he get an injury redshirt plus a freshman redshirt or something? that would do it i think...and to be fair wont raji be 23 or a little older also given his inactive year last year? jjthefalcon
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Jerry going to be 25 yrs old by the time the 2009 season starts??i think you are referring to another one of Ole Miss' DT Jerrel Powe. i think he tried for 3 or 4 seasons to get accepted... whether it was grades or whatever, i think this year was his first year with Ole Miss. he was one of the top high school DT's coming out in the 2005 class(the year i graduated) and i think hes a first year guy now at Ole Miss. Draftnut57
To me it seems that BJ Raji is quicker off the snap. The thing is BJ will likly be gone by our pick , and Jerry would probably be hte best DT left , but I think he could be a really good pick for #32 =)
