Marco102
We may want to make the playoffs THIS year AND win the Superbowl! Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL. Some may look to next season and say we'll be a better team. We probably will be, but has anyone looked at our 2009 schedule? We play the NFC & AFC East and have to deal with our NFC South friends ...maybe one or two of those games will be cake walks and depending on where we finish this year ,we'll have to play the second or first team from the other divisions, ( That's right! We will finish first or second in our division!) I'm saying don't be contempt with this season. You may think we are going to be juggernauts next year. We may very well be, but we are going to need every free agent acquisition and draft to play **** near perfect to improve on the success of this season! I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade who's "just happy with a winning season", but **** it let's not settle as a fan base! Our players believe they can win a Superbowl. Why shouldn't we have that same faith in them? This season's almost guaranteed. As of now, we are 0-0 for next season. Until that improves, don't just be happy with sh**! We are good team and we can and should win the Superbowl this year ! So here's to hoping our team wins that elusive Superbowl and bringing the NFC south its second Superbowl champion!By the way, I'm not saying we are not going to be great next season. Every season I think we will go 16 - 0. Even this season, I was optimistic, I know homer, right, but I really didn't keep up with the team last season because I worked all the time and took 21 hours of classes so I could graduate. So like every year I expected us to be decent. This good? Maybe not! Competitive in every game? Yes! ! I mean I didn't see 11-5 on the horizon, but who did? I know that doesn't sound like I'm a true fan, but real life comes before any sport in my book. Now that I've graduated and started my career, I'm all about my beloved falcons! Fan since 1996! Oppy
Dude y soooo negetive you sound like my dad. We're gonna do great next year, with Matt Ryan at a second year we're sure to make the play-offs
Oppy
But with that being said. It sounds like you know what your saying
Jaymadd
I dont know about us improving part, but i do agree that the sky is the limit for this season and every season that we play. Falcons have to opportunity to beat any team in the NFL, because they believe they can, and that is always a good start.
falconfan130
football is alot like golf. Only the ball that went in the cup is perfect - the rest could have been better! Until you win the superbowl - you always want one more win. (and even then it only lasts for the off-season!)
Marco102
But with that being said. It sounds like you know what your sayingI wasn't being negative, I'm just trying to get the message board a little fired up! I don't want any fan being contempt with a winning season, forget about the past! We can't control that, but we can control what happens in the future! Finally
You act as if our contentment is detrimental. We have faith that next year will be better and we are not scared about something for which we have no control other than winning which, as fans, we want anyway. I don't see the point in getting so worked up to just be disappointed if Dallas and TB continue to win. There is no point in riding an emotional rollercoaster over the playoffs. I take it one week at a time and if at the end all those weeks add up to a chance in the playoffs that is great, if not, we will get them next year and I can finally say that and mean it.Stop being so scared. I'm not afraid of anything. It's just a game at the end of the day to me! Life goes on. What I'm saying is many people are happy to just have a winning season. We shouldn't have that attitude as a fan base! I understand that a winning season is special considering last season, but why should we as fans just be happy with a winning season this season? We are just as good as any other team out there. We should not just be happy with a winning season this season. We should want more as fans is all I'm saying. Do you think the colts, steelers, new england fans are happy with JUST a winning season? NO! Contentment will turn you into the braves, yeah they had many winning seasons, but they only had one championship. After a while the fan base got disinterested. As fans, I say we demand more. Is that so wrong? Demanding more will not allow ownership to get content! IMO
TeamPlayer1
When you have been a 40 year fan and have never even had back to back winning seasons, why shouldn't we be happy. That said I'm buying my Falcons Super Bowl Tickets!!! Yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa!
Durrty
NO ONE IS BEING CONTEMPT WITH A WINNING SEASON...although, it may seem that way due to everyone's responses concerning our record and the progress of this team after dealing with all of the distractions from last season, but can you blame us? We've done a complete turnaround, in the NFL at that! It's rare that happens and I don't think any fan wants just a winning season, but I think what everyone is saying is that if we fall short in making the playoffs this year, it's not a complete loss due to how well the Falcons have rebounded from last year's debacle. Remember, we can win out and still miss the playoffs dude!

Exactly how does demanding more with 2 games left going to help? We demand more in the offseason for them to fix the problems we have had this year. I don't think we need to add any more pressure than they already feel at this point. I think we need to step back and tell these guys how proud we are of them and then let them do their job. I can't help but be satisfied regardless of how this season ends because they have given me hope for the future a feeling this longterm falcon fan has seldom felt towards his team. If it makes you feel any better I am starting to get the feeling that we will be in the playoffs this year and I am not sure I felt that way 3 weeks ago. If we get into the playoffs and show up strong against the teams we will face I might even feel like we can get to the superbowl. Right now I think we probably don't have enough experience to get that far but I would love to be proven wrong.
Ryan too White
One thing a winning season does is put us halfway towards ending the franchise's ugliest streak.

In some games this season, our defense has been plain out dominant, "the saints for the first three quarters, san diego", if the defense plays out of its mind, why can't we beat any team we face in the post season. The defense is the weakest link of our team, and to be honest, they aren't that weak! I just want everyone to THINK like we are winners and not the Falcons of old!I mean I'm happy with this season, but I'm not content with just a winning season. I want more! I'm greedy darn it! Why can't the 2009 Superbowl champions be the Atlanta Falcons?

When that point comes, then I'll be satisfied with a winning season. As long as we have a shot at the playoffs and the Superbowl, I won't be! The chances of Dallas winning out are very slim if you consider they have to go to Philadelphia. Carolina can still lose their last two also. I won't get into all the scenarios because there are like 1000 threads on it already!

But, I bet Brooking and Milloy are letting the rookies know that you can't expect to make the playoffs every year so when you have a shot, you have to give it everything you can. I think the 'content' fans are saying just do the best you can and thanks for the season you have already given us. If they don't get into the playoffs we understand there is more work to be done. If they do, which I still think is likely, great. If they get to the superbowl you will probably have a fan base with its collective jaw on the floor and if they win we may have people dying of shock. Marco102
Actually it does, if fans get content with a product management doesn't feel the need to improve it! If they don't, management will always continue to improve it. This wasn't meant to be a serious post, just a "let's get them fired up" type of post!No one still has acknowledged we will have a pretty tough schedule next season. That's why I say enjoy this season and HOPE we make the playoffs, because once there I believe we have a realistic shot of winning the Superbowl. xapno
I'm actually looking forward to next year's schedule. Dallas, New England, Jets and Giants: all away games? Ryan going up against 4 of the best (or.. most popular) quarterbacks in the league? On their home fields? Should be exciting...And I'm contempt with a winning season.... That doesn't mean I don't want the Falcons to go to the playoffs. I always want them to win, every game. But whatever opinion I have, it will have no effect on whether the Falcons do well or not -- or whether Dallas and Tampa or whoever else loses. So, in order to not cause myself an ulcer or upset my already extremely high blood pressure (probably no thanks to the exciting season so far), yes, I'll be happy with this season, no matter the outcome. (Note: my opinion won't keep the falcons out of the playoffs, or prevent them from going to the superbowl this year)
