duncja
I made this post in another thread but it really got me thinking.... this is seriously one of the best years in Falcons history.Matt Ryan is having one of the best years a Falcons QB has ever had.Michael Turner is having one of the best years a Falcons RB has ever had.Roddy White is having the best year a Falcons WR has ever had.John Abraham is having the best year a Falcons DE has ever had.Jason Elam is having the best year a Falcons K has ever had. We're breaking all kinds of Falcons records this year. We've got something brewing here. If we make it to the playoffs all bets are off. We'll be playing with house money and will be dangerous. I still have to say that Superbowl XXXIII was our best season. This season does happen to be where this organization has taken true flight to achieve greatness. Considering I was going to accept another 4-12 season, this has truly been a delight even with the few losses we have had. The only game I would like have back is the Denver game... we should have made a statement to them that we were the better team.
FalconFanForLife
Oh yeah there is not doubt this is one of the best years ever. I think the 98 SB season is the best ever, BUT this year has that same level of excitement AND surprise. We came out of nowhere that year to shock the NFL, and we are doing the same this year.In that regard both years are very similar. Just soak up every single feel good moment you can folks. We don't get very many of these, and you never really know when you might get another.
Durrty
It's hard to say, but...with the '98 Falcons, I was glad that we made it to the Superbowl, but extremely disappointed that our performance there didn't even mirror what the team did throughout that season. With this team, if we were to make it to the SB, I'd be more confident in our ability to win than I was with the '98 team simply because of the mental toughness these guys have shown this season. If the game is close, we play hard until it's over. In '98, it seemed like they just gave up which is why everyone thought that year was a fluke. With these guys, it's no fluke. We win games with hard play, period. So, I gotta say this is the best Falcons year/team I've witnessed.Just a random question I'm sure someone has thought about...If you put the '98 Falcons against the '08 Falcons...who do you think would win? Dedsquirl
This one is still climbing for me.The SB season was awesome and magical.9-6-1 under Reeves was a fun season to watch. That tie in Pitt was a crazy game and the most fun non-win I have ever seen.Mora's rookie year and the victory at Lambeau in the Playoffs was a thing of beauty. Not to mention, beating the blood out of St. Louis and getting a little payback for that MNF embarrassment. Kerney dry humping Bulger all game will always hold a special place in my heart. This one, like our team, is brimming with potential.I look forward to many great seasons during Smitty's tenure.
