Offensive Running Game

Since I see alot of people saying that it's Turner's fault when our running game sucks I wanna see where you all stand on this. I believe it's not Turner's fault and that it's impossible to run when there isn't a hole to run through.

There were defenders consistently in the backfield on most running plays. A running back can only be as good as his offense line allows him to be. However, when they were holes, they were the size of the Atlantic Ocean. How big of a hole was there on Turner's second TD run?

Exactly. An OL can make or break a RB.

It is pretty clear to see Turner is a much better runner with Baker back there. He still put up almost 90 yards, but that LT spot is really hurting us right now.

If only they could have evenly distributed that hole throughout the game...heck, even throughout the season...

I think several Grady Jacksons could have wobbled through that hole.

Exactly. Baker gives us huge holes on the left side, and he gets up more big plays. Our right side is pretty good, but Baker really just gives us that much extra on some plays to really help the run game. I hope we draft some extra depth at LT this year, in case Baker goes down again. I really do hope he is back soon.

Turner played fine. Our OL is beat up, we need to get over it. We have the #3 RB and the #3 WR in the league, and the best Rookie QB since Marino. Our starting QB was in jail last year, our coach quit on us. We are a good team with a 6-4 record. Be happy.

I did not read the other posts so sorry if I'm repeating...it appeared that the o-line was not blocking adequately for the run. Aside from the second Turner TD where there was a huge hole. We need better blocking IMO

There were only 4 plays I can remember where they was good blocking. The 2 touchdown runs by Turner and than the first 2 plays of the 2nd half.

they arent opening holes like they need to. turner literally has people in his face the second he gets the handoff. he's not barry sanders and he wont be able to make 4-5 guys miss before he even crosses the LOS.

I PICKED "OTHER", BECAUSE i PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT WE DON'T PASS ENOUGH TO SET UP THE RUN. Darn caps lock. Anyway, I think we go back to the run too quickly. This team can totally establish the pass to set up the run, but we continue to try the opposite. We had the Bronco corners eaten alive on the corner comebacks and slants and screens all day long. Ryan was having their lunch on the out routes. Then run plays for losses would set us up in tough positions. Let Ryan pass, and running lanes will open.

i would like to see Turner use his cutback lanes like he did in the beginning of the season. once teams realizes this, then they will need to not over pursue and that in turn leads to less defenders in the running lanes. but we need to have our Oline to a better job of blocking also. Turner is getting taken down in the backfield wayy to many times

Good point. I remember hearing in the 3rd game of the year the announcers taking about Turner using the cutback too much and not he isn't using it at all.
