north falcon
The game's just too fast for him right now. He has the tools, but I wonder about his head.He doesn't have any tools. In college he has tools, not in the pros. I'm assuming he can throw the ball far. That is probably his only tool, but it's not useful if it's not accurate. I'm no Matt Maylock, but something told me this guy wouldn't translate. He is awful.
1989Fan
see, i told you OAK would have been better off drafting Joe Thomas and trading a 4th for Boller (Russell twin on the field).
Tandy
He sucks, just terrible. They need a savior, someone to carry them so they can be terrible and actually win games. They need yep, Michael Vick. He was awful, Kyle Boller awful and even watching him in other games I thought he could be good if he had talent around him. Well I was wrong, it could be the case but I don't see it. He's likely to end up like Jeff George and not Elway. ****, well Oakland will likely suck for awhile so adios.I respectfully disagree. It would be the worst possible scenario for Vick unless they do the right thing - hire Football people to run the football side of things. No QB will succeed there - no matter how talented, until they do that. That place is a mess and it needs more than a talented QB to bring it to life. That team is a travesty and has been for the last 5 or 6 years. I don't see it improving until Al gets out of the day-to-day football and runs the business. HIDDA
Although it may be too late I believe that given at least some help somwhere that JaMarcus could be a good QB in this league. The young man has no o-line, no run game and no WRs. What exactly is he supposed to do with that?Best of luck to the kid.Punt...

They need a Falcon's style enema by a competent GM, to draw out all the poison.
Tandy
Vick will be there, even is teammates have given up on himFor Vicks sake - I really hope not - they will destroy his entire reputation as a talented football player. That's what he has now as an opportunity to turn his life around and get back on the right track and perhaps even get past his past. Going to Oakland under the current system there would destroy all of his credibilty. He'd be out of football before Al finished with him. st4ngeI2
he processes the game too slowly - looks lost and doesn't make good decisions, he's a boy playing flag football in a tackle league
pzummo
This says it all...http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/foot...s.ap/index.htmlFor the past month, both the Raiders offense and Russell's play have taken a giant step backward. The falloff for the Raiders offense since Kiffin was fired and offensive coordinator Greg Knapp took over the play-calling duties has been stark.Oakland had seven touchdowns, while averaging 19.5 points and 308 yards per game under Kiffin. Since the coaching change, the Raiders have scored only two touchdowns, while averaging 7.3 points and 220.3 yards per game.

I really thought he might go to the Vikings or to KC, but we'll just have to wait and see. So much can change between now and then. Either way - I feel sorry for Russell. He doesn't have a chance where he is. He needs someone to really work with him and help him transition and take advantage of the talents he has. He's not getting that there and probably won't. FalconFanForLife
Well I think several of you have hit the nail on the head. No one is going to succeed in Oakland as long as goofy Al Davis is running the show.
