#1 pick™
He sucks, just terrible. They need a savior, someone to carry them so they can be terrible and actually win games. They need yep, Michael Vick. He was awful, Kyle Boller awful and even watching him in other games I thought he could be good if he had talent around him. Well I was wrong, it could be the case but I don't see it. He's likely to end up like Jeff George and not Elway. ****, well Oakland will likely suck for awhile so adios. BC Fan
The game's just too fast for him right now. He has the tools, but I wonder about his head.
atlbravesfalcs7
i disagree.just cuz matt ryan started off fast doesnt mean others do. eli manning was horrible in his first couple years, now look at him.it also doesnt help that hes on an absolutely horrible team.i think the falcons improved a lot from last season, and i think jamarcus might have a chance to do well if he was in our offense
The_ATL
Although it may be too late I believe that given at least some help somwhere that JaMarcus could be a good QB in this league. The young man has no o-line, no run game and no WRs. What exactly is he supposed to do with that?Best of luck to the kid.

Russell could probably pull off the same feat.
flrybranch
I'm not a JR fan, butttttttt he does play for the Raiders. Really now what player will stand a chance as long as Al Davis is running the team.He was a visionary 30 years ago, but now he has been passed by. He needs to let a football man run the team and just write the checks.
obmann
You should never too hard about a QB, if Greg Knapp calls for him plays. That is really awful.I did not like Russell as first pick. I always thought, that Quinn is better. He will start at thursday for the browns. But russell should have more help and this starts with the OC. flrybranch
I watched JR play what 3 years in the SEC and wasn't impressed. He has a great arm but,,,,,, he needs time to develope. If he had been Derek Anderson or Kyle Orten then he could have been O.K. I thought both of them would be good QBs if the had time to develope. JR needed a year or two holding the clipboard and a decent OL tohave any hope. In raidertown he doesn't have either.

cankles
I felt bad for him, no QB could've succeeded with that team yesterday. That said, I've never been high on Jamarcus - seems like a nice enough guy, but at LSU he was a player who consistently had to be pushed by coaches just to do the BARE MINIMUM to get by. Players who don't want to go the extra mile will always struggle to excel in the NFL.

sporkdevil
I did think he was lazy, and wouldn't give it his all.But I have come up with new reasoning, based on Oaklands number of poor performing players at all levels of the draft.First: He has NO coaching. I can't think of a QB who played great with a new coaching change every 12-18 months.Second: He has NO help. I watched the Raiders on Monday night against Denver, and of course yesterday. Every time, he has numerous dropped passes, especially easy passes. If Al Davis didn't have some girl school crush on crappy wide receivers like Walker, and would just sign a handful of quality WR's for half the price, things would look better.Third: That O-line is a joke. Fourth: He is in Oakland. That could just about be the only thing needed to be said. He could be bad, I have seen him make some plain awful throws. But he has had less help than Vick ever had here, way less. There is no way to get into any sort of offensive rhythm when you have WR's and TE's dropping balls, your head coach being fired, and the plays being called by Knapp. We went through Knapp. Knapp should be charged with murdering QB's. Look at Jeff Garcia, who only managed to grab a backup position in Philly, only to then lead a 4-12 TB to the playoffs. Or Vick. I've noticed more and more that a QB needs one solid weapon at WR. Cutler with Marshall. Brady with Moss. Schaub with Andre. Again and again, any good QB has a great WR. Oakland has none.Either way, he doesn't have a fair shake in Oakland. He looks bad, but I think he has potential to be good. Oakland is not a place for a player to flourish though.
pzummo
I said this before the game and I'll say it again today. Oakland's problem is their line. Their offensive line sucks. Their defensive line sucks. Abraham was beating their OT's off the snap every down. You can have an All Pro QB, All Pro RB, and All Pro WR's. If your QB can't finish a 3 step drop without seeing pressure, he's not going to do well. Every offseason Oakland signs big name Free Agents at skill positions. Ol Artie falls in love with a skill position player and buys him without ever fixing the line. Look at what they did this offseason, Javon Walker, 1st pick on Darren McFadden, and Deangelo Hall. The only DL they signed was one that was already there last season. Where's the OL and DL? Gallery busted out, so try again...
bossFALCON™
Playing QB for the Raiders should be the easiest job in the world. You know the target receiver won't be open and you don't have time for 2nd and 3rd reads, so on passing plays you just throw it out of bounds. You don't gain any yards rushing, so you never have to walk more than 3 or 4 yards at a time. You don't get first downs, so after 2 or 3 plays you go sit down for 10-15 minutes while the defense gives up just enough yards to keep the chains moving. To entertain yourself I guess you could put a red mark on the butt of whichever lineman you predict will move before the snap. If it weren't for the Raiderettes, there would be no reason to go to the games in person. I was watching on NFL.COM during the game and they stopped even listing the Raider plays. or maybe it just seemed like the football was always next to the Falcons name. The drive bars were so short I couldn't tell if they were going left or right. They've decided to put a patch over both eyes of the Raider logo until further notice.I laugh because I'm tired of cussing at my computer during the games.one of the posts a raider fan made that made me LMAO. i do feel bad for russell though. he has been given very little to succeed with and just from watching him he reminded me of joey harrington. throwing the ball to peoples feet, holding on to the ball too long, etc. he's just lost confidence.its really bad when your qb loses confidence. Cirrohsis of the Eye
I'd compare him to Testaverde. Vinny was the number 1 overall draft choice for a very bad team. He was like Jamarcus in that he was a big guy with all the tools but wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Jamarcus isn't throwing as many picks as Vinny did but I think they are very similar. It took Vinny a real long time and a few teams but he eventually flourished.

I believe (if memory serves me right), when he was ranting along, one of the main disagreements he and Kiffin had was about JR. Seems as though Kiffin was dead set against that pick. hmmmm, maybe Kiffin was onto something...

obmann
Vick would be a huge upgrade over that 2 they drafted. JRussell doesn't get the NFL game at all.NO question about that. you should divide vicks mistakes in the privacy and his playing. For me Vick stays a incredible QB. He made so many great plays. And if you look at monday night today, you see a perfect steeler defense. Then you should go back to 2006. Michael Vick let them looked like the would be the Bengals.....That was such a great game from him. I do not think, that a Qb can play better against the Steelers. Yes he had is bad moments. He had personal issues. But for me Michael Vick had a huge potential. And before I got flamed. I love Matt Ryan. to be honest. I was not the biggst supporter of drafting him. But if you see him behind the center, you must love him. What a QB.......But if QBs like Frerotte or Brad Johnson are in this leauge, Vick can be it, too........
