Money Lee
For the second week in a row, Brooking was humiliated and embarrased in space by an offensive player weighing over 270lbs. Last week it was Dan Klecko, this week JaMarcus Russell.Who will it be next week, Sedrick Ellis masquerading as an H-back running a go route for a TD? RyanFalconMan
Yeah Brooking has lost a step or two. Much like what we have done with Grimes and Jennings, we will be seeing more playing time from Nicholas to take over for Brooking.

IronHead34
I'm one of those old school Brookings fans. It is hard to admit this, but he has lost a step. But his leadership on this team has been valuable. I think we start to transition the younger ones in now. But keep him as a player coach. Money Lee
I like Nicholas, but to be honest, across the league, the WLB is a star, 3 down guy. I don't think Nicholas has the speed to man it either, although it's tough to believe he's any worse than Brooking. Lofton is a solid hitter, but he needs to be flanked by speed guys. We obviously has a stud in Boley, but Brooking isn't capable of filling the role opposite him.I understand Brooking's leadership, experience and loyalty to the franchise is keeping him out there, but soon enough, it's gonna cost us a game, if it hasn't already! CollegePark4life
True. Russell made him look BAD on that play, but I have a feeling brooking will play great against the aint's and we'll be talking about how good his play was in the coming weeks. Money Lee
this thread is ridiculousnitpick over dumb things 2 good plays out of 30 and those are the ones you want to focus onI'm not nitpicking, just pointing out a significant decline in play. He's on pace for less than 90 total tackles and, for consecutive weeks, has been embarrased in space by players that outweigh him by about 30lbs. I mean, it's Brooking couldn't even get a hand on these guys they just ran right around and by him. Literally, they were running faster than Brooking as they created separation as they were headed downfield.Put it this way, if we watched Kindal Moorehead lineup at FB and run around Derrick Brooks, we'd all be laughing our A$$es off at how far Brooks has fallen off. Regardless if it's one play or 20.Think Chris Calloway chasing Grant Wistrom in '99.

logic
We're winning now so keep him around as a team mascot.. No need to rock the boat and mess up the chemistry. The defense was emmaculate yesterday..If he gets cut then it might jinx us..He's a necessary eveil at this point.
FalconFanForLife
Yes I am an old school Brooking fan, but I too see he has lost a step or two. But for this year at least, he is our best option. Brooking has had a great career here, so I think we should show some respect for the effort the guy has shown here over a long career. He doesn't make all the plays he used to, but for this year at least, he is still a great leader for this young defense. I am sure TD and Coach Smith are evaluating the roster constantly. So for now, let's just cheer on a guy in the twilight of his career to just play his best. What else can you ask of a player?

blizzard_falcon
Let Brooking finish this season, and then hire him as the Linebackers coach next year when Lofton is ready to call plays for the defense. And if the coaching staff doesn't trust Nicholas to play WLB, I'm sure we'll draft someone in the offseason.
