Now that the sting is a little less, what was your fourth down quote before the punt

Recommended Posts

I was watching the game with my father, who is from Philly, and as soon as we forced the fourth down I was uncontrolably excited for about 4 seconds, then the worry set in as i remembered that we actually had to feild the punt.

My father half jokingly and half truthfully said he wasn't worried because the punter was the most consistent player on Philly's team.

I looked at the TV and said Jennings if the ball is anywhere inside the forty please just let it drop.

Immediately after the "unpleasantness" and the replay my father looked at me and said "Man, that's [explitive] up." I looked at him and said "What'd I tell you?" And we both just shook our heads.

I wasn't even angry...just really dissapointed.

So what'd other fellow Falcon fans say and feel after our D forced the 4th down? Elation, worry, panic,?

i was like "man here we go. ryan's bringing us back again. i know it. like BC Fan has been telling us, we're never out of a game with him. just get the ball in his hands!"

i then looked at the sideline. watched the punter snap and punt it. it went waaay in the air....came down. then i yelled "BACK THE **** UP JENNINGS" and at first i thought he muffed it. i was ****ing heated. then on i watched the replay and said "throw the challenge flag smith"...then noticed we had no timeouts.

after that i punched the wall and started yelling out a bunch of words that will get bleeped out on this MB.

I KNEW once the punt was caught and downed we would win this game by 1. I was SURE of it. I remember saying "We got time to win! let's work fells!" and then a combination of Jennings and a dumb-*** ref smashed my winning-drive hopes. I hope that ref gets beat up because of that call one day. *******. <_<

Well EVERY TIME Jennings fields a punt I expect disaster, so I just kind of felt justified in my poor opinion of his ability to judge the ball in the air.

But one play does not make a game, so I am not saying we lost the game because of the muffed punt. We lost the game because the Eagles played better than we did overall.

But I DO expect Jennings to continue to make bad judgment calls on punts. I guess the coaches see something in him that I don't see at all.

Before the punt, I knew something bad was about to happen. I did not have any confident in Jennings before or after that punt.

Yep.... my exact words were "C'mon Jennings, don't screw this up."

But I think I've been saying that everytime he goes back to return a punt.

i had gotten my hopes up when i saw that we could win it.....and i was thinking "wow that would be so awesome." but honestly, i kind of knew once the punt was in the air that something had to go wrong.......of course i think that on every punt......

but i dont blame the loss on jennings.....or the refs......we were just outplayed....but i do think we showed some promise, and the game was closer than the score showed.......

but that gut wrenching feeling after the eagles got the ball seemed....oddly......familiar..... like some seasons past...

but looking back on the game and the season....those feelings are getting fewer and fewer.......good time for falcons fans......still happy about the game......

I was mad as ****, but I talked to a friend of mine (who is on this message board) and asked what he thought and he said "well, I am on the way to Home Dept to fix the new hole in my wall."

But dispite the way things turned out I was proud of how the team competed. We were without Baker, ja98 got hurt, had some suspect playcalls, terrible defense at times, and were in the game with 2:00 left. A loss is a loss but you know....

When our D stopped them - I was like - Oh Yeah. Then when the punt came and it was unwinding - I was like - Throw the Flag - then I remembered and I was like - Oh ****.... Then when I was watching Smitty - I was like - Go For It Smitty - take a swing - you don't have a timeout - but you have Grady - knock his block off. By this time - I was pacing around the room and my husband was trying to calm me down. My dog was on alert - the hair on his back was standing up - and his ears were forward. The rest is a blur ....
