4-0 With Sam Baker Playing

Recommended Posts

Apparently these are our keys to the game. We haven't lost a game when Baker plays the entire game and when Ryan is over 60%. I also firmly believe that Jamaal being out yesterday had a HUGE affect on our running defense. I think we had an average of 91 yds/game or something like that given up on defense. Jamaal is a presence out there, whether you like it or not. We missed him yesterday. We also missed Sam Baker big time, this guy has to be on the field for us. Matt did very well yesterday, I would say there is only a few passes that could be taken back. For the most part, I am happy because we made due with what we had and played hard. I really wish we didn't let up that last TD after the "muff" call. You could tell it sucked the life out of our D.

From here on out, Baker HAS to play. Jamaal needs to be in the game as well, he is a big part of our team now. We also need our running game to work properly to allow Ryan to throw only around 25-30 times. When he does that, he completes over 60 %. When all these things happen, we are 4-0.

Also, throwing the ball on 2nd and G at the 1. REALLY? Don't we have Turner, Mughelli, and Snelling? What is the purpose of a powerback and a huge fullback if you are going to throw at the one yard line. Don't get me wrong, I like the confidence displayed in this decision. But, come on now. We pound that TD in the endzone, we don't have to come from behind. We would have pulled one out with some key players down. That is the sign of a good team. Which, I still think we have.

IT'S STILL A GREAT TIME TO BE A FALCON FAN!!

I'd mentioned about how I thought there would be a "drop off" at the LT position with Baker being out and continue to run the ball to the left and got nothing.....

If Ryan completes the fade, Mularkey looks like a genius for fooling the Eagles. It was a poorly thrown ball, that one is all on Ryan one of the the rookie mistakes he is going to make from time to time. But yes, if we are going to be a "physical" football team we should have ran it at least one more time.

I agree, I like the confidence he displayed in our Rookie there. But, atleast run on 1st and 2nd downs for crying out loud. Throw on third if you need to. But, your down in points on the road, take the easy route and pound it in.

So if Baker is missed this much on the field when he doesn't play as a rookie. Then just imagine how good he will be in a year or two. This kid is defnitely going to make some trips to Hawaii. No doubt, just as long as this stupid injury thing will go away.

If there is a football god out there, now is the time to take your black cloud off of Atlanta. Move it to Tampa or something.

My understanding is that the team is being extra careful with Baker's injuries because they feel that he is a special, long term player and that they have faith in our depth. As painful as it is now, I agree with their decision to protect their investment in Baker. He is the best Falcon's o-lineman that I have seen in years.

I understand wanting Baker to be healthy and not risking anything, but to be faithful in our depth? I agree we have depth at some positions on this team, but LT is definitely not one of them. If Baker is out, we are screwed pretty much. Weiner is toast!

Seriously, that makes no sense.

The best predictor of future performance is history.

He's spent the his last season and a half of football suffering through a myriad of injuries. This is a not fluke, he's that injury prone.

Yea, because he missed like what 2-3 games in college and had a concussion from a knee to the head. I'm not sure about the hip injury, but this is to early to call him injury prone. People were saying that about a guy named John Abraham too. Now look at him. Does that make sense?

They weren't saying this about Abraham coming into the league, nor as a rookie...Baker's had three seperate injuries this season that has caused him to miss games. I'm not belittling the severity of the injuries, just questioning whether or not he can hold up. As it stands now, he cannot.

I didn't say they were saying that about ABE as a rookie. But a few years ago, when he was hurt a lot, many people said he was injury prone and was done and blah blah blah. Sam got a knee to the head, anyone would go down for that and concussions take time to heal properly. If not healed properly, then you can have major problems. The hip injury I don't know about, from what I understand he was held out for safety precautions, not because he couldn't walk or anything. This other injury you talk about, I don't know of it. All I know is the concussion, and hip injury.

What I am getting at about Baker's injuries is that around here, people get to gungho to quick. Few unlucky plays that cause injury does not make you injury prone. People wanted to call Roddy bust, call Jamaal bust, I was pissed with Elam for missing PS FG's. All I'm saying is we need more time to make that assesment. He should be just fine, WE NEED HIM!

Yeah but as much as I love Baker, he is starting to make me worry over his durability. He was hurt a lot his senior season, and now he has missed 3 games already as a rookie. I hope this guy can hold up to a full season of play eventually.

They can't help us if they can't play.

well it hasnt been said in this thread .............so i will say it .What does it mean when the best LT on your team is a rookie?

I mean there should be someone in that lockerroom to play at least level of rookie. Weiner 11 yr vet and he sucks

I dont like what that says about our oline and their capabilities!
