Jamarcus vs. Ryan : We are going to learn more about each QB after this game

Recommended Posts

Matt Ryan has QB rating of 82, Russell has a rating of 76. Both QBs have breached the 200 yard passing mark twice this season. Ryan has had the easier schedule thus far with wins over Detroit and Kansas City, while Russell and the Raiders have close losses to the San Diego and Buffalo.

Ryan got ruffed up a little against a more veteran defense and made a few mistakes, but a few nice plays. However, in the end the team lost by nearly TDs. Oakland is not a great defense, but an aggressive defense and it will be interesting to see how that defense matches up with Ryan and the Falcons' offense.

For both QBs, its a big game. The Falcons have hopes of making the playoffs, but winning on the road and in the NFC South are the team's biggest obstacles. For the Raiders in the up for grabs AFC West, Russell has struggled some, but the team is still in a position to compete for their division.

This is not a elimination game, but a definite MUST-WIN game in order to keep their teams relevant in the playoff race.

I know this has nothing to do with your post but do you live in Valdosta? I got to VSU, that's why I ask...

Jamarcus Russell?

Playoffs? PLAYOFFS?

Let's not get the cart ahead of the horse.

Someone was comparing their stats on another board and they were pretty close stat wise.

Russel looked okay in the Jets game but his main problem is accuracy and he telegraphs a lot of his passes. But given adequate time in the pocket, he can and will pick you apart (like every other qb). He'd be a lot better if he was playing for a more stable organization and better WR's. When Al finally dies and things go back to normal in Raider land then he will be a very good qb in this league.

It might have been the Jets defense that made him look so good but we have defensive problems of our own so how he'll do against us is a question mark

That's not an excuse when you hold out all of training camp your rookie year. That showed his true colors right there.

Usually when a player holds out it is his agent advising him to do that.

Russell has Knapp as his OC,a washed up Javon Walker as his main WR, and a bad o-line, no matter how early he made it to training camp he wasn't going to be that good with all that going against him.

And the players that care more about the game than the money find a way to get a deal done so they don't miss time.

That is debatable.

Turner >> McFadden and Fargas

Roddy White >>> Javon Walker

Our Pass blocking O-line >>>>> Pass blocking O-line

Mularky >>>>> Knapp

This message board >>>> Knapp

Now 2 different head coaches for Russell and will most likely be 3 head coaches for him going into next year. Not exactly the best situation for a young QB.

Well considering the Falcons offered Matt Ryan a huge contract quickly there was no way he would holdout.

On the other hand Russell and his agent was dealing with the crazy Al Davis.

Argument is getting nowhere if you don't get that the Raiders front office has problems and that a lot of 1st round picks holdout when the team is not offering them the value of where they are drafted then you never will get it.

This isn't just about the Raiders. Players hold out from teams all the time. The ones that really are in it for love get a deal done in time. I mean you have nearly 3 months after the draft to get a contract done.

My goodness players don't even negotiate the contract unless they are their own agent which I don't know any rookie who would decide to be his own agent.

I know players don't negotiate their own contracts but you pay the agent, not the other way around. Players have the ability to tell their agents to get a deal done no matter what. Unless they care more about just holding out to get the most money they can.

It's pretty easy for a fan to sit here and say what a player should and should not do because a fan is not in a players position. All fans worry about is football. Well football is that players job so when it comes to your job money is going to be a huge factor. Accepting any old contract just to please fans would not be a wise decision career wise. One play could end your career. He's thinking big picture.

Sorry if I don't understand how hard it is to live on 30 million dollars guaranteed. When us normal people struggle day-to-day to make ends meet and would give our right nut for just 1 million dollars so we wouldn't worry about how we're gonna pay the next bill that arrives.
