Who was impressive in college football today?

I saw him make two plays out of thin air.......supposedly he was playing on a sprained ankle but I could not tell......Crabtree is elusive as hades - and can "juke, plant foot in the dirt, change directions as good as any wide receiver I have ever seen.....doing all of that at 6'3" is very impressive........

I would not lose any sleep if the Falcons took him - I know WR is not a great need for Falcons but - WOW!!!

Pretty much what I just wrote in the Nicholas topic ... if somebody like Crabtree fell in our range, we'd be stupid not to pick BPA.

He had a great game today, it was really fun to watch.

Roddy White and Michael Crabtree would help Matt Ryan light up the scoreboard............it won't happen but its fun to dream!

I've been saying this all along: if we end up with the 15th overall draft pick and Crabtree falls to us, I would love nothing more than for us to draft him. In the game today, the commentators compared Crabtree with Andre Johnson from the Texans. I wouldn't disagree at all. Crabtree can do every thing you want your WR to be able to do and has every thing you'd want your WR to have. Not only would he be a legitimate endzone target for Ryan, he would also help alleviate some of that stress on Roddy White and can stretch the defenses to allow White to be more open. Crabtree and White on this offense, man... there's no better wide receiver we could realistically get that would be as good as him.

With the void of 1st round WR's last season, I think there will be some teams feenin this offseason to snatch some up.

I tell you what though, the WR rookies this season are playing pretty f'in well for 2nd/3rd rounders.

Eddie Royal, Deshaun Jackson, Jordy Nelson, Harry Douglas, and Donnie Avery are all putting up great numbers as rooks.

Two number one options never work in the NFL you are bound to lose one in three years ask the Lions and Cards.

You know, I am not real big on drafting WRs in the first round but if Crabtree was there when we draft, I would not be upset if we got him. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, isn't an ego-maniac, has great hands and runs very good routes.

I could see us drafting him and making teams greatly fear our WRs.

Unless you are drafting a wr as classy as Marvin Harrison which 90% of them are not you will not get that. Most are attention needing and add the Beagals to the list.

Falcons would not draft Crabtree if he was a head case......You can tell from Dimitroff's first draft with Falcons and looking at Patriots that he does not draft "head cases".........

I don't know about Crabtree's personality but another guy in this thread said he had his head on straight.......Two good WRs on the same team can work and has worked often.......just let me know if you need a list - i'm prepared... B)

I need a list I have already given four where it did not work. Keep in mind I am asking for two number wr not just good? Both would have to be Pro Bowl caliber.

Plaxico & Ward, Johnson & Williams, Bolden & Fitzgerald and Johnson & Houchmandzadeh.

I agree with g-dawg. There's no reason to believe that there would be team problems with us having another really good WR. If Michael Crabtree is a good teammate (and player, of course) I have no problem with us drafting him. Right now we have one elite WR with a bunch of question marks. Harry Douglas looks like he will be fine, but he's more of a slot-receiver. His elusiveness makes him ideal in the slot going up against nickel corners, safeties, and even LBs. Michael Jenkins has been very solid this season, IMO. But again, his contract is almost up, and he has never really played to the level at which he was drafted. And don't even get me started on Laurent. If another week goes by and he's not on the field, I'm going to be ticked.

Jerry Rice & John Taylor-Taylor never was an #1 option

Jerry Rice & Terrell Owens-Didn't Rice demand a trade because of Owens

Randy Moss & Cris Carter-Have you seen these two together constantly crying for the ball, Vikings had to split them up after 4 years.

Michael Irvin & Alvin Harper-Harper never was an #1 option

Larry Fitzgerald & Anquan Boldin-If Boldin doesn't get a 10 million contract he will be leaving.

Marvin Harrison & Reggie Wayne-I will give you.

Chad Johnson & TJ Houshmazadeh-Both have demanded trades because they are not getting the ball enough.

Lynn Swann & John Stallworth-Different era before the me first wr (OVER 20 YEARS AGO)

Mark Duper & Mark Clayton-Different era before the me first wr (OVER 15 YEARS AGO)

Tory Holt & Isaac Bruce-I'll give you.

Fred Bilentnikoff & Cliff Branch-Bilentnikoff only had 1 year over 660 while playing with Branch not a #1 option (OVER 20 YEARS AGO)

2 out of 11 is not a good percentage so no it is not enough!

So add those to the list of great wr tandems that did not or was so long ago it is not relevant.

Arrelious Benn in 2010 or 2011!!

I personally like Benn better than Crabtree or any WR to declare since Calvin Johnson. Benn reminds me a lot of Anquan Boldin - big, fast, great hands and breaks tackles. The kid can take over a game and has been doing it since his freshman year.

Noel Devine in 2010 oe 2011!

he would be like a Chris Johnson or Brian Westbrook.

I think he has the most potential out of any RB due to his speed.

then again, I am a WV fan/

I thought that he was the greatest RB since his sophomore year in HS but after watching him play I think his role in the NFL will be as a return man and as a trick play/Reggie Bush RB (basically a WR).

You can't compare Devine to Westbrook but Westbrook can do it all and you can't compare him to Chris Johnson because Johnson can run in between the tackles and gets north/south and breaks tackles which Devine doesn't.

Devine is very fast and very shifty/elusive but he isn't what the Falcons need because they basically have that in Norwood.

A team that needs a Noel Devine would be like the Cardinals who have two bruisers one of which is aging, the Browns, the Bucs depending on Caddy's health, maybe some others by then as well.

Your premise - and then the "defense of your premise" by running down my list above is "idiotic" - just because you say "2 for 11" does not make it so - nothing you said above takes away from my list - it just damages your weak "theory".

Would a tandem of two "prima dona" WRs like Terrell Owens and Randy Moss work on the same team? probably not - you have to draft "team guys" first and foremost...its worked in the past, as my list suggests - and it will work in the future. The point is probably "moot" anyway because the Falcons more than likely won't get a shot at Crabtree because I think he goes "top 10" and I don't see us getting a sniff of the top 10 unless we start collecting injuries......

But, yes, two excellent WRs will work on one team.........its been done before and it will be done again B)

Alvin Harper was NOT a #1 WR, just ask any Tampon Bay fan.

But I do agree that it can work given the right circumstances.

Alright Dirty Bird, that's it!!!

Guys, I'm asking for an "emergency intervention" on behalf of the suffering "The Dirty Bird" patient.........We are hear today to discuss "The Dirty Bird's" penchant, his "addiction", if you will, for bringing up players that will not be technically available for the next upcoming 2009 NFL draft. Exhibit A is Eric Berry and now we have Exhibit B which is this Arrelious Benn character...

..I also overheard The Dirty Bird discussing this running back that he saw dominate at a middle school football game - he said "Thomas Dimitroff bring home Octavious Jackson in 2018" - that is just sick - this is "child exploitation" at its worst .....You need help Dirty Bird....serious help! The first step to healing is your admission that you have a problem.

"Will you agree to accept this help as it is being offered to you today? We have a car outside ready to take you to a "draft-a-holics anonymous" treatment center in Des Moines, Iowa...........Please get help today".....

Think it was because the writing was on the wall for Rice, he really wasn't a true #1 by the time he asked for the trade.
Randy Moss & Cris Carter-Have you seen these two together constantly crying for the ball, Vikings had to split them up after 4 years.
But it worked for those 4 years. Roddy's kinda old, 4 years from now he might be starting the downside of his career.
Larry Fitzgerald & Anquan Boldin-If Boldin doesn't get a 10 million contract he will be leaving.
It's working well enough. He may leave for money, but it's working right now. You can't base this argument on the idea you might lose a guy after getting what you wanted from him for 3 - 5 years as long as it works while they are both there.
Chad Johnson & TJ Houshmazadeh-Both have demanded trades because they are not getting the ball enough.
I think they both just want traded out of the hellhole they were drafted into.
