byrd36
They have 6 interceptions to date. As of yet, Sheldon Brown has 0 where last year he let the team with 3. I know they'll most likely play strong cover 2 with blitzing packages as well as LBs patrolling the curl zone to get our slant routes interrupted. The slants have been our bread and butter this year. Let's say they do contain the run while blitzing with little time, what other type plays/routes do you think we will have to execute to get them to respect the pass and put more into coverage?I personally think we'll see a few screens, both RB & WR screens in a spread 3-4 receiver set.Thoughts? FalconMama
yep, they have 3 really good cbs and Dawkins and Mikall?? (help me pick-ups) that are capable of shutting our wr's down.. Hopefully someone steps up this weekend. It's a good thing that we have a healthy Laurent coming back
LVfalconfan
I think Mike murlarkey is going to do a great job setting up or Rookie QB to succeed. Probably a lot of roll outs to buy time and quick slants. I think if our o-line keeps there play up matt Ryan will have plenty of time to make good decisions. thempizzle
I think Ryan is going to throw a couple picks on Sunday...The bears could've/should've had two picks on Ryan but dropped them, one which could've been a pick6.Everyone says he makes great decisions, and he does for the most part, but he has a tendency to go for it all and has been pretty lucky this year that he hasnt thrown his share of INTs. dirty4life
The Eagles seem to get burned with TEs quite regularly. I am hoping to use Norwood to get some of the same exploitation since we don't have any serious weapons in the Tight end department.
Ghost Rider
They have a great secondary and it only worries me if we fail to pick the blitz up well. If we pick it up and Ryans not having to rush throws then I would think that Roddy will be tough to cover like normal. We should be OK. pick-ups
Mikell will be taking over for Dawkins next year and outside of Jaqua Parker has been the best player on the defense.#27If ATL is smart they try that wildcat offense using Norwood and that`ll slow down the blitz IMO.Dont tell Mike Smith that..... It worked out for him....even WITH the interceptions.
ucityfalcon
I think the key is establishing the run; exotic blitz or know exotic blitz.
byrd36
I think the key is establishing the run; exotic blitz or know exotic blitz.Yes that is to key to all our games...but what I'm asking is if we don't get it going, like we failed to do against the bears for the most part, what adjustments/gameplan will we need to make against such a strong secondary? pick-ups
The best way to try and slow down the Eagles defense is to keep the score close enough that you dont have to abandon the run.If the Eagles get out to a nice lead then they`ll blitz like crazy and the secondary is strong enough to go man to man with any team. BruceReville
Chicago game - 1 INT in the End Zone (Mikell) - Tipped pass INT (Howard) - End Zone INT was on a short field and the other on a tipped pass - plus Orton was the QB - 1 bad break - 1 tight coverage w/Orton passing - no surprises on these.San Fran game - INT (Mikell) Short of intended reciver Bruce - INT (Parker) short pass in hurry-up - QB led the ball w/eyes defender jumped the ball and ran for the TD - O'Sullivan QBDallas game 1 INT (Samuel) short pass - pretty much in Samuels hands - QB RomoPitt game 1 INT (Samuel) - deep ball jump between receiver & defender - Samuel won the battle. So pretty much the ints mainly came off of QB mistakes by leading with his eyes - throwing into too tight of coverage or short of the reciever - 4 INTs were in short passing situations - 1 INT was the result of Samuel getting the better jump on a reciver for the ball. If Ryan can avoid the mental areas of the game we should do just fine.

The Aints are pros at that. Norwood may become a bigger factor than we anticipate. Either way, we're going to have to may some adjustments, which I'm finally not worried about. I think that even though the Eagles' corners are tough, we still have to make a gamble with throwing the ball downfield, especially if and when they come with the blitz. Our line's been good at picking up the blitz, and Ryan's been great at hitting his hot read or throwing the ball away. He gets the ball out of his hands quickly. I think Reid has to be careful not to corner blitz because Ryan WILL find the target. Should be interesting, though.

Shagpill
Samuel,Brown,Sheperd,Dawkins,Mikell is the strength of the Eagles D.No doubt you have a pretty darn good secondary, but they do perform a lil under their par. They are good at just about everything but they have a weakness just like everyone does or they would be better then the titians. We have a good batch of recievers that can fly past you and stop on a dime. With Robinson back we have four very capable and reliable recievers and they can block... oh yes my favorite part about roddy is his blocking... top notch for a reciever. dotn forget about our "back up" running back, mr. Norwood. he can line up too. oh and did i mention Peelle.... i know you eagle fans dont know who is is, but you will at some point on sunday :P it will be a hard fought game but i think we are up to it.
