Every single game we played this year we got the ball first ..I want Phillys offense on the field we get a 3 and out and drive down the field and

set the message.I dont want Ryan on the field first this game and the crowd to get into it

I kinda like being on offense BEFORE their D gets warmed up.

yeah good point....... we do well early usually....and i like our offenses chances of coming out strong over our defense shutting them down quickly......

just curious does anyone know if we have been winning all these coin tosses, or have other teams deffered?

Smitty likes the offense to get off on a fast start...we've done well doing that so I don't see any reason why we should change it. Once our defense gets better, then I see deferring as being an option. Until then, if we're awarded the opportunity, we must put points on the board first.

im a fan of getting tha ball first. we get to decide how tha game is played by being tha first to establish ball control. plus it puts your offense in a rhythm first, and if they dont get in that rhythm it's still early in tha game so they'll be able to sit on tha bench and see what went wrong.

getting tha ball back first at halftime isnt everything.

I like getting the ball first because if you get a decent drive and don't score your still ahead in time of possession and the field position battle. Make their Offense start deep in their territory with less time...points or at least field position sounds good to me.

If I were a coach, I'd want to play defense first. Just like you can set a tone on offense, you can set one on defense as well. Getting the other offense off the field on the first drive would be such a morale booster for the entire team. If not, it challenges your offense to respond.

I'd definitely want to take the ball to begin the second half on the road. People are still at the concession stand, in the bathroom, taking a smoke, etc and the fans aren't in a rabid mood just yet. If any time, that first drive to begin the half would be the best one to score on. I guess this is something we as fans have to agree to disagree on, as there are many different reasons for either method.

I have always preferred getting the ball to start off the 2nd half. But this regime has swayed my thinking. With the way we tend to start fast (highest scoring 1st quarter team), starting out with a lead really does a lot for our team. We are a top tier rushing team, so we can play ball control offense and keep the clock running and their offense on the sideline. Seriously, I have never liked receiving the initial kickoff, I have always preferred getting the ball at the half. But this team tends to start fast, and there's one thing I believe in even moreso than deferring the initial kick. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

remember mike smith likes for us to start fast and set the tempo of the game, which is most likely why he likes to put our O out there first. we set the pace of the game and after our first drive the opponent has to answer to whatever kind of drive we put together.

Yeah he wants the D to take the field with a lead.
