What is the recipe to beat Philly this week?

This year, Philly has lost to Dallas in a shootout, Washington in a game where Clinton Portis ran wild, and also to Chicago in a wild game where CHI went -2 in the turnover battle, and still won the game.

The home game that Philly lost was against WASH when Clinton Portis went nuts for over 160 yards.

I think we will have a tough time turning Philly over at their home field. I think were going to have to run the ball very well to control the clock and keep McNabb on the sidelines. If we get behind early, we really dont have the defense to hold Philly down long enough to catch up.

What is your gameplan to steal a win on the road in Philly?

when we have the ball: run, run, PA, run, PA, pass, run, run....basically just eat up clock. we cant let their offense get in a groove. we have to keep them on the bench. we must also get 7's instead of 3's in the redzone.

on defense: pressure mcnabb, tackle, play the good solid run D that we're capable of playing (see DET and CAR). cant let them get explosive plays.

they're beatable.

If Abraham gets after McNabb and JA hangs back he'll be in perfect position to pancake Westbrook/Buckhalter on the screens. Given that all out pressure comes from 1 guy, I don't think the screens in the middle will work very well as the rest of our defenders will be in the mix. Slide out screens to Abraham's side could be deadly though. Our linebackers better have a plan to track the RB and let the safeties handle the WR.

I think we'll have moderate success with establishing our run game. We probably don't have the tools to win a shootout, but a ball control game we keep close is our best hope.

We can also let DeSean Jackson catch a long ball and recover the fumble when he celebrates at the 5 yard line.

I hope they figure out someway to get to mcnabb, he'll eat us alive if we don't. Also, when we have to the chance to make plays we have to make them, I think mistakes will hurt us big in this game if we don't. Also, Baker has to play the entire game, if not our line is completely different without him.

Can Winston Justice start Sunday......

Philly is a good team but they are not as good as some of you fans make them out to be....They are beatable...... To be honest The 49ers was suppose to beat them.... They controlled the game until the mid 4th quarter

If we play our game and make zero turnovers..... We have a chance to win

We will have to score 7s....... That fieldgoal stuff wont cut it in Philly and Abe & the D-Line will have to do their thing....... If we sit back in our Cover 2 and Mcnabb have all day......Lets just say ....Picked Apart.... I know blitzing is not Coach Smiths thing but yooo McNabb has to feel pressure

i agree. the 49ers just choked BIG time in their game. this is a winnable game for us. i think we can beat any team on our schedule. nobody scares me.

I just have a fear we cannot stop the Iggles offense.. If we blitz, McNabb will check it down very quick to guys who can make 3 yards into 15+ yards. If we hang back in coverage, well get picked apart without a pass rush.

The key for me is this. Can we get pressure with 4 guys, max 5 and try and keep 6 or 7 guys in that soft zone coverage. If we can, I think we can hold them to 3s..

Hold them to 3s, and we need to convert TDs in the red zone. If were kicking FGs, were losing.

Seems to me that the Eagles are making a whole lotta big, explosive plays in the passing game with McNabb chucking the ball downfield and big recievers with good hands are making it happen. I think success in this game will come from plenty of nickel defensive formations, NOT COVER 2!!. Five defensive backs with a solid glue-like coverage by Boley on their RB, whether it be Westbrook or Buckhalter will give them fits. IF Westbrook plays, we must encourage them to run often; it may do a little damage early, but Westbrook has broken ribs and a bad ankle, and the more hits we put on him, the less effective he will be in the duration of the game. They won't be able to sustain a gameplan of marching downfield all game, but they might for a series or two, so we'd have to not panic.

Offensively, we all pretty much have the same idea... Run often, and get the ball out of Ryan's hands quickly against the aggressive blitzing of Jim Johnson's defense, and, of couse, score td's instead of field goals when we get in the red zone. I hate to admit it, but we should take notice of how Carolina gameplanned against our defense; Delhomme with plenty of quick drops to slant recievers. Roddy and Finneran could play the part of Muhammed very well.

If our corners and safeties do not play well, McNabb will kill us. Abraham and JA98 (fingers crossed) need at least 5 sacks to give us a chance, They will put the heat on Matt Ryan, how will he respond? I hope we come through but I see this game as a bad matchup. Go falcons. I hope the coaches can out scheme the eagles, that is what it will take.
