How do you defend the Eagles?

Liek said above if we can get our run going and maybe get out to an early lead we just need to bleed the clock. We need there offense on the sideline as much as possible. Plus if we can get the run started then I feel we should win the game. Hopefully Matt Ryan will be able to get in some playaction. I believe if we can get the run going then that leads to playaction which leads to deep passes. Which should lead us to a win.

We have to Play every down, first, second, and then convert on third. Our falcons are doing this very well and are keeping defenses on the field, we have one of the better conversion ratings on 3rd down in the NFL.

We also have to play mistake free football and not try to get cute like Mularkeys reverse against the bears, run, run, play action, then...run some more.

this may be a weekend where we try to get the run going as well as going to quick slants in the passing game. if they play the 46 lets give ryan full control of checking off as he's been very successful doing. If he can consistently find the single coverage we can open up the running game and force more db's on to the field for turner to run over. Their mlb is a joke and the crossing routes and running up the middle from a spread formation should be a big part of the game plan. The 46 is an attempt to cover up their run stopping deficiencies. the eagles have decent line but the lb's are weak w/o trotter. we may want to attack the perimeter with some quick tosses to norwood making sure to block dawkins at all times. Norwood could have a career game if e can get into the 2nd level. we may also like to use strong and weak formations meaning overloading the strong or weak side with blockers to take advantage of one side of the 46.

As for stopping their offense we gotta start by trying to minimize their biggest threat... westbrook. Philly seems to be more of a running team but with our secondary we cannot risk to many blitzers at once because this will leave too many holes in the zones. Zone will be our main coverage type or a bit of man zone like cover 1 with milloy in the box and coleman over the top of houston because they use jackson on several vertical routes every gamea lot and brown underneath but brown gets plenty of yac on ins ours and slants which as we know are all zone breaking concepts so here is my key descision as a coach who has the least chance of beating me and how do i force the eagles to have only that dimension in the game. if we go with a cover two zone coverage with two safeties with man coverage under neath then blitz no more than two lb's at a time we may have to look to just contain everything underneath and liit yac. I expect to see foxworth and jackson a lot especially if they use buckhalter at rb and westbrook in the slot this almost always will call for a zone play on d. the eagles have been running the ball as of late abot 85 yds/gm so we have to play disciplined. we have to make sure they are runing the ball before the db's come up to support because mcnabb can hit backside receivers on a regular basis and he can buytime for receivers to get open still, he's not much of a scrambler anymore but we should make sure we dont give him big lanes because he has the ability to go downfield with his legs and he will as evidence of his 20 attempts.

Simple: keep possession of the ball with smart plays and a balanced offense like we did to chicago to keep the eagles offense off the field and to stop the eagles in the red zone. the eagles have struggled in the red zone. our defensive plan should be for the defense to play a mistake free game with very little penatlies with patience, forcing the eagles offense to make more penalties themselves. cover the wideouts as much as they can while singling out westbrook, westbrook is coming into the game with broken ribs. lofton and his fellow defense players need to aim for those ribs with hard hits repeatedly forcing reid to limit his runs to preserve him for more important division games. anderson needs to continue the success he had against chicago, he does not have to have a sack but needs to play hard with patience pressuring mcnabb and blocking down a couple of passes, while letting abraham work his magic getting several sacks to force mcnabb into becoming erractic. our kicking game needs to beat the eagles kicking game to beat the eagles. we need to play the TEAM concept with patience and stick together throughout the game as a single unit.
