UnrealfalcoN
Nolan fired in San Fransisco, Mike singletary in as interim coachNFL.com
BruceReville
Given the fact he still has Nolan's talent and staff I wouldn't put too much on it - Mike will still have pretty much the same struggles as he won't be able to fully implement his system if he doesn't have the key components or the components in place don't fit/execute his system properly. Still I hope he does make a positive impression. He always seemed like the token interview when it came time for coaching hires - maybe now he can show those owners where to stick that token. falconsfan1987
I think the 49hers will have apretty good squad. They just need a good head coach to bring it all together.
clownorg
I'm 100% satsified with coach Smith, but I am very intrested to see what Singletary can do with that team.I do think he is going to turn out to be a great coach in this League
totalbirdbrain
I've got to believe that their defense will improve, but I'd still worry about things on the offensive side of the ball.I don't think you win championships in today's NFL with that offense and O'Sullivan as your quarterback. ucityfalcon
GIve him a contract and one good draft, and we'll see. Congrats to Coach Singletary, though. You can honestly say he earned the spot.
aerosmith67
I think the 49ers have a shot next year with a solid draft class, the NFC West isn't that strong and I don't see it getting any better next year. I like Singletary, I hope he does well with the 49ers, he deserved a shot and now he's got it!
UnrealfalcoN
i think their coordinators arent bad, they just need some more impoact players on the lines, and Mike can show what he can do
BlacksburgHokie
I think the 49hers will have apretty good squad. They just need a good head coach to bring it all together. As the assistant head coach he obviously wasn't able to inspire them to be any better than they were already. Maybe the larger platform of being a head coach will give him more room to impress his will on the team, but still...

BruceReville
well people said that all mike smith had was turner.... let's let him coach a few games, he may not need the excuses.Yeah but he can't go out and pick-up necessary pieces from the draft like Mike & TD did until next year - I say that this year will be a big learning curve for him as a head coach and next year when he has the opprotunity to pick-up players via draft/free agency for the system he wants to run we will be able to get a much better picture as to how well he will do in the NFL as a head coach - assuming he keeps the job I wouldn't hold it against him if the 49ers lost every game from here on out. I think Singletary will may a good HC someday & this is his 1st opportunity to show that.
Tandy
If Mike Singletary coaches like he played - he's gonna be just fine. But maybe not in SF. Until they get their internal struggles resolved, it's going to be a hard road for ANY coach. Either way, I wish Mike Singletary - one of the best to ever hit the field - much luck. Gore and .......you get the picture.Haslett has more bullets in his gun than Mike right now and Haslett knows how to coach with less talent - he did it in New Orleans - this is Mike's first fortay and I would not fault him if the team doesn't make any significant turn-around - I would like to see him do so just to prove all the naysayers wrong - last year Mike went from the hot topic to the not topic with no explanation given. Joremarid
JT O'Sullivan - Alex Smith - Shuan Hill --- that combo there makes Vernon Davis - Issac Bruce - and the rest of the reciving corps obsoleteno it really doesn't. They won 2 games already with nolan and if they are firing him then they think they can do better. they play in a weak division and they have players. Haslett is winning with less, Singletary needs to step up to the plate.

I think he will surprise alot of people. All I'm saying is we should wait on the excuses. The West is weak. Very weak. He needs to win some games. 0-10 or 0-9 isn't acceptable. HIDDA
Is it possible to root for a coach and root against his team?
