I have only 1 criticism of Matt Ryan

He throws too much off his back foot, off-balance.

I know this is being nit-picky, esp. since he has been completing these passes. But I really wish he would set his feet more before throwing when he is scrambling from the pocket.

But hey, if that's what he has always done and he can do that all the time, then that's fine. I've just never seen an NFL QB do that successfully with consistency. Maybe Ryan is different. Seeing his pass replays it just looks awkward, and I wonder if his QB coach has said something to him about it.

Well, there arent many flaws to find in Ryan so I thought I would point this one out.

i second that

Duly noted

The rookie is playing his inaugural year like a true pro. He has talent & intelligence all rolled up into a perfect PR package. He busted *** to be what he is and earned the respect of being a raw/natural talent. It's only week 7 of the season, but it would take a miracle performance from any other contender to challenge Ryan for the Rookie of the Year.

Arthur Blank has made me regret not renewing my season tickets and I applaud him for my own misjudgment.

The question is.....Can you live with the results?

Really, a few scouting reports I looked at said that that was the main problem with his deep throws, and if he fixed that, his deep throws woudl be better.

Have you ever seen butch cassidy and the sundance kid? They have a seen where they try to go straight and get jobs as guards. They ask sundance to shoot some cans.He misses the cans when they tell him to stand still. He then asks if he can move and shoot. He riddles the cans off the ground and in the air.I have seen basketball players who cant hit a 20 foot shot unless someone is in their face on the move. This isnt the javelin throw.Matt is a tall lanky kid that unloads like a snake or a spring.I noticed in camp that his accuracey on rollouts is incredible.I seei it as a real world gift instead of a perfect world problem.

This is nitpicking, but this is one thing I wouldn't want to change. Every great QB has something they do that's unorthodox. Brett Favre is the most unorthodox of all of them. He throws it underhand, overhand, sidearm, and whichever other way he can to get the ball to the receiver. I think his is to an extreme which causes him to throw a lot of interceptions. But I also think there's such thing as too technical. When a pocket breaks down, QB's that try to maintain the mechanics get sacked or get stripped of the ball from blindside pressure. The one's that know how to improvise and do things out of the box make something out of nothing. His mechanics in the pocket have looked crisp. Once he's outside of the pocket, trying to setup for his throw could give the defense that extra second they need for the sack/fumble. Once a play breaks down, I want him getting the ball out of his hands as fast as he can.

If he's throwing off his back foot on his drops, I'd agree there's a problem.

Just got this text message from Matt Ryan. Thought I'd post it for you guys:

Hey, Boz! Matty I here!

I've got a criticism of Jedi Falcon - but only this one:

He posts too much off his back foot, off-balance.

I know this is being nit-picky, esp. since he has been composing these posts. But I really wish he would set his feet more before writing when he is scribbling with his hand in his pocket.

But hey, if that's what he has always done and he can do that all the time, then that's fine. I've just never seen a quality AFMB Poster do that successfully with consistency. Maybe J.F is different. Seeing his post responses it just looks awkward, and I wonder if his Mom has said something to him about it.

Well, there arent many flaws to find in J.F., so I thought I would point this one out.

With the vision, timing and football IQ that Ryan has displayed I have no problem with the way that he throws the ball. Combine all three of these important QB traits and it allows him to throw the ball from angles and variations that other QB's in the league just can't because they don't have the three named things that Ryan does.
