I voted for William Moore thinking you where talking about the best safety entering the draft but my favorite Safety has to be

Patrick Chung, He does well in coverage and does an excellent job of supporting the run and plays near the line in Oregon's defensive scheme, I really like him because we can get him in the second and not have to waste a first round pick on a safety. He has some speed running a 4.5 and could spend a year learning under Milloy which can only help him develop into a great safety.

I love(d) Myron Rolle as a safety prospect for this draft and at one point in the creation of my second mock I had us snatching him up in the 2nd round - however - he continues to get beat in pass coverage by scrubs. No joke. He is a great person off the field and had a terrific freshman season, but he has been very disappointing.

This is from a Sports Illustrated article titled "2009 NFL Draft prospects who've had disappointing seasons so far" posted 3 days ago:

"Myron Rolle*/S/Florida State: Rolle has watched his game level off after a dominant freshman campaign two seasons ago. His productivity has gone in reverse and Rolle has never taken his game to the next level, as many scouts thought possible."

Here is some game notes from NFLDraftScout.com:

09/30/08 - Safety Myron Rolle continues to get beat in pass coverage and was twice flagged for pass interference vs. Colorado.

09/26/08 - No real issues from the Wake Forest game. The Seminoles kept the Deacons out of the end zone, grabbed two turnovers and caused enough tension for the Deacons' normally automatic placekicker Sam Swank to miss three field goals. But lost in the action was the fact Wake Forest receivers got behind FSU's secondary, primarily safety Myron Rolle, several times. The throws were too long or off-line, but the plays could have been a touchdown. Look for Colorado to attack Rolle with passes. The Seminoles' defense will get a big boost from all the suspended players returning.

Crappy teams are targeting Rolle as the weakest link and attacking him? And he is getting beat? That just isn't good.

Mays is my number 1, with Moore close behind. I would be ecstatic if either one became a Falcon. Also, Chancellor is a good prospect who could become a great safety. He is no where near Moore or Mays, but he has great size and decent speed. He is a big hitter and pretty good in coverage. However, his position has been changed several times, and because of that he has been inconsistent. I honestly believe that if he stays in school, he could be a better safety prospect. He is a big reason that VT's defense is doing well this year after losing so much.

chancellor is an obvious favorite..although i dont think hes playing up to my expectations of him, and neither is myron rolle, who seems to have his head and heart in academia rather than football. moore is best imo, and ellison is outplaying mays so far

Correction: Ellison's stats are better than Mays' so far. Opposing QBs are staying away from Mays and attacking Ellison's side of the field (and for good reason).

 @ Teams attacking Ellison. They'd be foolish to do so. Ellison is playing in the box a lot of the time, which is why he leads the team in tackles. The dude is a playmaker and one of the more underrated players.
