atljbo
Role expanding for Falcons WR DouglasBy Dan ParrOct. 16, 2008 Sources in Atlanta don’t expect the Falcons to change a whole lot during their bye week. Things are going far better than anyone expected and there’s not much of a need to tweak lineups on offense and defense. However, there could be a change made on punt returns, the way we hear it. Adam Jennings has handled the duties thus far, but he’s gaining just 6.8 yards per return, which left the Falcons ranked 25th in the league as they headed into their bye week. Jennings also has muffed two returns, which is tied for a league high. Word is rookie WR Harry Douglas will get more looks at the position and he’s being groomed to eventually take over full time. Douglas has made his mark as a receiver and ballcarrier on reverse plays this season, but scouts envisioned him as a punt returner, as well, when he left Louisville. With Laurent Robinson back healthy....... We can try HD at Punt Return
direwolf
God, I hope so. He can't do any worse than Jennings has done. For an NFL returner, I sure do spend a lot of time thinking, "Please don't drop it, please don't drop it, please don't drop it" when Jennings hits the field. Not to mention he spends more time running backwards than gaining positive yardage.Direwolf
UndisputedChamp
I can't wait to see Douglas returning punts. I'm so excited to see the falcons play the eagles.

Josh Affonso
This is great news. Hopefully they will cut Jennings now to make a spot for Trey Lewis!
formul8or
My only worry is HD dropped some easy punts at TC, which I think is why Jennings has PR duty. But Jennings has dropped them in games and I'll risk HD doing the same for the yardage difference he'll probably bring.
atljbo
HD is a very exciting player.....Allot of experts(besides chris carter) said that we drafted HD a round to early but if you saw this guy college film....HD is the same type WR as Desean Jackson and Eddie Royal...... very versatile and explosive
JDB2688
This is great news. Hopefully they will cut Jennings now to make a spot for Trey Lewis!Lewis isn't coming back this year, it was in an article around here not too long ago. Foster probably will, but Lewis is basically done.

There was a game this year, I wanna say against the Chiefs where he can backwards and got tackled for an 11 yard loss.
Guest Gritz
HD is our best option right now......If Thomas Brown hadn't gotten injured I feel pretty sure that he would be returning punts....and doing a good job at it too.
Norwood all the way!
im hoping Robinson comes back 100% healthy and can take some of the workload at WR so HD can take all the punt returns
cwell1
I want to see Douglas back there too and good to have Robinson back,he needs to stay healthy for the rest of the season because if he does our offense will explode. Robinson and Roddy is a great tandem.
CollegePark4life
Now we can focus on getting positives yards instead of not dropping it. I'm glad to hears Robinson is back. Him add Roddy will be great. Now if we had gotten Gonzales things would be interesting.
frankthetank966
With Laurent Robinson back healthy....... We can try HD at Punt ReturnI agree. But why not try to put Foxworth there and get him more involved?
falconsfan1987
Right now as it stands I would rather see Grady run out there then to have to see Jennings anymore. I am so tired of saying Good he caught it, or @#$% he dropped it again.

millenium falcon
the staff is smart. they wont cut jennings unless douglas really excells. they may not even then in case of injury, unless a player at another position is available or needed. trey lewis is said to be shelved for the rest of the year and i'm glad to hear it. he may be our UT next to jackson next year. i want to see him come back next year 100%. He gets lots of time in his second year returning 47 kicks total and has still been aweful. Why is it okay to give up on him? a guy who has only had a year and a half of real playing time?I think if we can give up on Jennings, then I can give up on jamaal without scruitiny. XVenge
One word: PLEASE!Agreed! I also would rather see Grady then Jennings in the punt return spot. Im pretty sick and tired of worring during punt returns. And I hope we beat the eagles... A win against the eagles would really improve our rating in the NFL. The latest ratings of teams by nfl.com puts the Falcons at the number 10 spot. Not to bad since we were supposed to have a miserable season. Lets win the division fellas... GO FALCONS!!! chris30277
If HD can take over punt return I can see us cutting Jennings to make room for Foster once he gets restored to the roster.
