falconchef
They conveniently forget the Falcons and Vick introducing it with GREAT success just a couple years ago. Success, that is, until every team figured it out, same as teams have done with Miami's version. After only three games with it.
~SEAMILL~
I am sick of hearing about it. They suck and it takes that crazy crap to win. It wont win games consistantly. yeah, I remember the falcons option read crap too, it stopped working after a while. They need to quit calling it the wild cat too....that makes no sense. call it the "fishbone"

falconchef
I think one of the things that kinda ticks me off about it was a week ago on some ESPN show where the analysts said they thought Miami was a better surprise team than ATL, and I thought to myself, "Self, why would anyone think Miami is better when they've won their games playing gimmic football, but we've won our games playing SOLID football?" Well, they haven't won since the rest of the league remembered how to stop their gimmic.

Falconsfan567
didn't he fumble? or am I mistaken? No. It was the first play of the 2nd half for the Falcons.
Remarkable
The Falcons have been running that formation on 75% of the plays since 2001

Thats probably what they said about the first forward pass in the NFL. the wildcat can be used in alot of ways and will make the game alot more exciting. Its just catching on. bossFALCON™
I love that formation who wouldnt? its tough stopping just norwood, or just turner, but having them BOTH lined up at the SAME TIME is just scary.you'll either get juked out of your pants or trucked. both have great breakaway speed and can take it to the house. iloxygenil
The Falcons ran that formation before the Miami game even was on TV, THIS SEASON. So give them the credit, but we know our coaches are just as good if not better, and we know we got it in the gameplan faster.

The difference this time is that for whatever reason, Miami seems to have a pretty good set of personnel to make it work weeks in a row...The difference is that they keep expanding it and adding wrinkles out of the same sets...That is the only reason it's still effective...If you have inferior talent or subpar play on the OL, you have to use confusion as your extra offensive lineman...So far it's been effective even if Miami did lose last week... Sucks being in their viewing area instead of ATL.

IF THEY SEE ANYTHING ENOUGH ...... THEY WILL LEARN HOW TO DEFEND AGAINST IT. BUT TILL THEN, MIAMI IS GETTING ALL THEYCAN FROM IT. MORE POWER TO'EM. IN THE NFL YOU USE IT UNTIL THEYEFFECTIVELY STOP IT.
innovativefx
Funny thing is - I coach 10 year old kids and run the same offense. The single wing is very popular in youth football - the "wildcat" name usually refers to when you haved 2 up-backs that you can snap to - not quite like what the Miami is running. It is more like the play Norwood ran for 20 yards. What you see Miami is called the Jet/Fly series out of Single Wing formation. 1 full speed back taking/faking a handoff and the other one running a power or trap play. You have only seen 2-3 plays so far - there are tons of plays from the sets - I think Miami will run some more of them soon enough.BTW - single wing is one of the oldest football offenses. There are tons of variations.
VincentVanBro
Its nothing but a gimmick. Its basically like trying to run the option in the NFL only its even easier to counter because there are very limited things you can do with it.Miami is still a complete joke in my opinion. They won a few games thanks to good defensive play and a gimmick offense no one had prepared for before. Living under the Vick era we should know something about how that works. Eventually every gimmick is figured out and you will have to line up and play basic 11 on 11 football, which I don't think Miami can do as well as people seem to think.
