oregonsfan
A win is a win...and I'll take them where I can get them. But, it seems to me, yesterday's win was important in many other ways. First, this game was the second successive game against teams many thought we couldn't compete with, and there wasn't a let down from the first game to the second. Consistency is a good thing. Second, it gave everyone a look at the character of this team...when things didn't go their way, they kept on fighting! When we were pretty much manhandling the Bears, they didn't get sloppy and undisciplined.Third, Coach Smith had what in reality was his first chance to manage the game clock when the game was truly on the line. He also had to coach when the team was really up - and when they were really down - and excelled in both circumstances. In short, this game was a HUGE confidence builder - the players in each other and their coach, and the coach in himself and his team.
