"They just told us. It's what he deserved," said senior quarterback Cullen Harper, who was benched after the Tigers' loss to Wake Forest loss and replaced by highly regarded sophomore Willy Korn. "Dabo Swinney is a fine man and will do an excellent job."

"I'd call it kharma," he said. "I thought it needed to be done. I think anytime a head coach or someone in a leadership position starts to place blame on his coaches and players, it weakens their respect on the team. His past experiences have shown he's done that."

Dang!

I don't see the Harper and Bowden family exchanging Christmas cards ever again.

clemumo82 who would you like to see as your next Coach?

Will Muschamp

Bobby Johnson

I think those two are fairly realistic choices in the current landscape (If Auburn's job comes open, Muschamp would likely prefer there, and there are the Texas fans who remain convinced Muschamp is their HC in waiting). Johnson is a former Clemson defensive back and defensive coordinator back in the mid 90s for a year. I believe he has an out clause to Clemson in his contract, but not sure on that.

There will be some nutjobs who suggest Cowher, Grobe, and Butch Davis, but that's not realistic.

I don't want Kiffin or Chris Peterson.

What about Bud? Foster that is.. Muschamp is a good choice as well..Not sure Johnson will want to leave his project at Vandy , didnt he just sign another long term contract, but who knows if your right about that out clause then he may of been waiting for a clemson HC job to pop up.

I've never got the impression Foster wanted to leave VT for some reason. I figure if he did, he would have by now, but you never know. Perhaps, he's waiting to replace Beamer.

Too bad for Bowden. He did deliver some big wins, but did lose a few he shouldn't have, and vice versa. Never could he have that season where it all comes together and wins the Atlantic.

Anyway, I see Muschamp as the leader for the job. They'll look hard at Bobby Johnson too, seeing as how he's a Clemson alum. Lane Kiffin will probably end up at Washington should Ty Willingham get fired or Syracuse if (or when) Greg Robinson gets fired; he won't be considered at Clemson.

As for Tommy Bowden, i don't think he'll coach next year, or maybe never again. He may be like Terry and start up his own blog or be an analyst.

As a Georgia Tech fan, this is good news for us. Clemson will be in disarray and they probably won't be prepared for us given everything that'll go on this week. Clemson opened up as the favorite in Vegas, but I'm sure the Jackets will be favored by at least a touchdown by the time the game rolls around, if not by the end of the day.

Larry Williams

Swinney cans Spence

Posted 02:07 p.m., October 13, 2008

Just got it confirmed that interim head coach Dabo Swinney has fired offensive coordinator Rob Spence.

Athletic director Terry Don Phillips gave Swinney the option to retain Spence or let him go. Spence, who was in his fourth season with the Tigers, left the McFadden Building about a half-hour ago.

I'm guessing Swinney will promote a graduate assistant to fill the open spot on the staff, but I'm really not sure right now.

Wow, when I saw the news that Spence was out, I figured he either left on his own or the AD fired him as well.
