30. Falcons

Consecutive sellouts: 0 | Season-ticket waiting list: None

The Georgia Dome has the potential to be loud, but it seldom has been. The Falcons have struggled through much of their existence. The Braves and the University of Georgia are the favorites in this town, and the Falcons only draw attention when they're good.

i love how everyone in this site pulls out the past stats when they don't have any other defense!

 The stats I used are not much different than the stats ESPN used. The consecutive sell-out stat included in their post also include games from the past. It's just that when facts hit you, they hit you so hard all you can do is laugh and love how and how often we present them.

Laugh all you want, but that's not going to refute the fact that we have better attendance statistics than the New Orleans Saints.

11 New Orleans 3 209,904 69,968 95.9

25 Atlanta 2 124,744 62,372 87.6

georgia dome capacity

71,228

detroit

62,310

kansas city

62,434

louisiana superdome capacity

72,968

tampa bay

69, 881

san fran

70,008

minnesota

70,015

so now let's do the math. in a combined two games the georgia dome could have fit 142,456 people. only 124,744 people showed up. so that leaves 17,712 unfilled seats.

the saints could have fit 218,904. 209,904 people showed up. that leaves 9,000 unfilled seats.

a difference of 8,712 people.

That's just this year. We're coming off one of the worst seasons any fan-base has ever had to endure. :) Call me when your starting quarterback is arrested, your coach quits, and you rack up a total of 4 hits and 12 whiffs.

that's no excuse, look at the top ten. cleveland, and kc. they have been terrible but they still have a nice sellout number. oakland, they don't have the sellout numbers but their fans are still turning up.

then you can even put up arguments that gb, washington, and the giants all were average football teams and struggling at times. but they all still are impressive.

He didn't say Cleveland or KC. He's talking about the Saints. You have one of the biggest bandwagons in the NFL right now.

whether people like to admit it or not losing vick is why we've had problems selling out. winning will help us start selling out again (its already evident as the bears game sold out pretty quick).

losing the face of the franchise and one of the most popular players in the league really hurt the team. not to mention sucking on top of that didnt help any more.

if the saints lost drew brees for good and the offense became stagnant, the team went 4-12, AND the coach quit on them i can almost guarantee the superdome would have empty seats just like the dome has had.

we had like 4-6 seasons of consecutives sellouts before last season.

Have you ever noticed when your at a Saints game, Most of the Saint fans are wearing jerseys of players who weren't on the team before 2006.(Brees, Bush, Colston, Shockey...)

You'll be lucky to see the odd ball Deuce or Horn Jersey's.

I just think thats strange.

So what?

We may not have a large fanbase when compared to other teams, but just look at this forum as an indication of how passionate many of us are. Sure, there are plenty of trolls, but most of these people on these boards are fanatics.

****, after all we've been through, I'd have to say that Falcon fans are some of the most passionate/stick-wit-'em.

I guess it just seems ironic that a Saints' fan is the one pointing this out. If that doesn't reek of irony, I don't know what does.

First of all, every franchise you just mentioned has won atleast one championship. Secondly, we've been terrible AND still had more distractions than a king from the Middle East. That still flew over your head. Compile off-season turmoil [of the same magnitude] and regular season garbage then you'll get the 2007 Atlanta Falcons.

...And we STILL sold out 6 of our 8 home games!

PS: Now explain why we have better attendance numbers than New Orleans.

and the saints have gone through the greatest natural disaster in the history of the united states. what's your point?

my point is that true fans stick together through good and hard times.

Please, that doesn't have a thing to do with the dysfunction of a franchise. If that happened to Atlanta, the Falcons fans would've done the same thing. In the past, when the Saints stunk it up, their fans would respond no different than ours would. You just wait until the Saints' luster wears off and Bush becomes an obvious bust...

Was my point not clear enough? Since we moved to the Georgia Dome, our fans have responded better than New Orleans. In your opening post, you laughed at the Falcons being ranked #30 in ESPN's opinion, but little did you know the Saints fans haven't showed up in better numbers.

the past few years they have, nobody cares what has happened in the past. if a team won a superbowl in 1980 that won't do any good for them in 2008. same with attendance.

all you falcons fans do is pull the old stats out when yall don't have know argument for the present. and don't deny it, it's more than the truth.

You go from saying "the past few years they have" to "nobody cares what has happened in the past". That is hilarious and a classic example of contradiction (your middle name).

So you mean to tell me that if Cardinals fans began supporting their team today in record numbers they're the best fans in the NFL?!

Stats are facts.

Actual attendance. You'll never see a consistent exact number with actual attendance but you will with tickets bought.

We go over this every season. Bears fans got in, but Falcons fans ruled our venue.

Yeah, when your a fan though, it doesnt matter how 'good' the fanbase is....just as long as you and some buddies are die hard fans, then it makes it worth it.

I prefer to have a smaller fanbase anyways...nothing annoys me more than a Vick, Bush, Favre, or Brady jersey walkin around. Can ya be any less original?
