SWIFT HITTER
Dont think Ryan has seen pressure up the middle like he is going to see this week vs the Bears..When a QB sees pressure up the middle his first instinct is to roll out of the pocket ..That either leads to 2 things most of the time a throw away or a bad pass either leading to a int or a high risk completion..If you have noticed most of Ryan's passes have been near the sidelines...5 yard outs, deep gos and what not..He has not utulized the middle of the field not sure if thats from the lack of a pass ctaching tight end or that is what Ryan is more comfortable with .Anyway the Bears defense is top notch ..They are great up the middle but they are vunerable to play action from watching some games..There safeties will drop down and bite on the run..If I was Mularky I call atleast 2 long plays to keep the safeties honest. Ryan has played great at home and I guess Im just waiting for the other shoe to drop one day and he stinks it up real bad like a normal rookie..From what I seen Ryan does have all the intagibles to make a great QB play but even the best QBs struggle against a Lovie Smith defense. Ryan does benefit from seeing a similiar defense but not exactly the same ..I hope Mularky mixes it up this week a lil by getting Norwood more involved either in some screen passes or pitch outs..Then those plays would set up misdirections.. Falconsfan567
Did you see that pass against the Packers on Sunday? A. J. Hawk at a clean shot at him and he stood in the pocket and threw it right over his head to a wide open Justin Peelle.
Wild Bill
Our OL will need to step up. Hopefully, we will game plan for their weakness, not their strength.
Falconsfan567
and he did stink it up against the bucs.Give him credit for going 10 of 18 in the 2nd half.

cuttermd
and it's not like we have pass catching tight ends. Our TE's are doing ok actually. Not big receiving threats downfield but thats ok. Peele caught a TD last week, and there should have been one more if Ryan would have delivered the ball timely to Hartsock. I'm not worried about Ryan at all. He'll make some mistakes but make some good plays too. I'm more worried about our lack of pass rush except for Abe & our run defense. Durrty
Trust me, Ryan will be fine...he may get touched a few times, but afterwards, he seems to get real comfortable with his throws in the pocket. I expect Ryan to do just as good as he's been doing lately...Turner must rack at least 80+ yards and a touchdown though and we must play tough defense on Orton, Forte, and Hester in order to secure a win on Sunday. sporkdevil
Briggs has a half sack, Urlacher has none. Alex Brown leads their team in sacks, with 3.
Durrty
Interesting stat...but I think that's only because Urlacher and Briggs usually cover the middle while Brown is used more on blitzes...
sporkdevil
Interesting stat...but I think that's only because Urlacher and Briggs usually cover the middle while Brown is used more on blitzes...His fear was from pressure up the middle from their LB's, unless I read incorrectly. Which is possible, I just skimmed it.

RIfalcon
im really excited for matt ryan....in my opinion this is the best possible route for a rookie QB....get the snaps in early so you can learn....learning from a clipboard doesent give the same effect...matt ryan will be a threat in the comming years and will prove himself as a "super bowl quarterback"....maybe he can pull a ben roethlesburger (sp)....im not worried at all

He is coming off of an injury. Even if he plays, he won't be 100%. Or at least, I hope so. Nothing like the highest paid DT blowing through our line. I do hope he is out though. Falconsfirst
I'm wondering if this is the week Norwood lines up behind the center, and Ryan split out wide. It might slow down some of the upfield push by the bears. It also levels the defense against the run. Usually when the quarterback hands the ball off to the running back, there are 11 defenders versus 10 offensive players ( quarterback is 7 yards behind LOS). It like the plays that Greg (take a) Knapp would run in the ground with YKW and Dunn. I just can't think of a better RB duo than NORWOOD and TURNER to run those plays. I'm not sure if Ryan is allowed to do it, but I'd love to see him take charge there, just for one play, surprise them with one no huddle and then huddle up again, but mix it up a little when you see your chance.About TEs ... I think they're doing pretty well, they get open so Ryan can use them as security options ... and they catch the ball, which is more than some WRs do.
