Matt Prater

2nded. im not surprised prater is doing good. it always seems like players have huge years right after they leave here.

Man I was thinking the same thing myself. We could write a book about guys who succeeded after being a bust here. He is kicking great, but he did truly suk when we had him, so let's not hear all the "we should've kept this guy" posts please.

Personally, I wouldn't mind having Prater back. We aren't going to keep Elam forever, and if Prater keeps it up I see him kicking for at LEAST a whole decade. The man was blasting 70 yard kick-offs on average when he was with us. He had the range, easily, just not the accuracy. Denver seems to have given him that, and I would be shocked if he didn't break the distance record with the way he is playing.

I wish the Falcons would have had the leisure of keeping him just to be a kickoff specialist until he could improve his acuracy. I seem to remember that we had Brad Daluiso on our roster as a kickoff specialist for at least one season prior to him going to the Giants and actually having a pretty decent career for several years. If Prater continues to improve I can almost guarantee that he will end up breaking the record for longest field goal in NFL history, especially considering where he currently plays his home games.

Elam trained Prater when they were both in Denver, helping him develop. Now Prater has Elams job, and Elam has Prater's old job, LOL.

Prater was young and needed good coaching, which we didn't have last year, so he developed when he got it. Prater will become a great long time kicker if he continues to work as he does now, and I don't see any reason for him to regress at this point. He had a good mentor, Elam.

You can't miss 23 yard FGs and expect to stick around.

It happens. What 100% accurate kicker do you know? Some staffs have patience and some dont. I cant blame the front office though due to the fact that the moron running the show at that point lacked patience (obviously since he quit on us).

He had missed multiple chip shot FGs over those two games. 1 in Minnesota, and both in Jacksonville, not to mention another easy one in preseason. He shouldn't have been starting to begin with.

Who said he needed to start? We cut him flat out which was stupid because he had talent. You develop players, but I guess people expect them to land on the roster 100% perfect. I wonder why Denver took him in.......sure is working out for them. Brent Grimes has been with this team since the Mora era...........its called development.
