I put the blame on the coaches

Recommended Posts

Dude, the TE was wide open. Great play call, bad throw. If you trust your rookie QB to throw it all the way between the 20's, naturally you trust him to finish in the end zone.

You didn't need to score fast

We needed to eat the clock

I didn't want a pass even before the int

Mistakes happen

We were controlling the game

When you control the game, you run the ball, whoever is your Qb

Period

Come on man, it was not a bad play. If he would have thrown it a second earlier, you would have never made this thread.

Exactly. The Packers are expecting run, run, run in that situation. That pass right there would be the best chance the Falcons had of scoring. Matt made a bad throw, get over it. He's been good all in all.

I remember Big Ben first season

They knew he was a rookie

they didn't use him too much in the red zone

This doesn't mean you don't trust the player

This means you use the strongest player in that situation

On 1st and 12 to go for the TD you use Turner

Any day

Any game

4th quarter

Ahead 17-7

1st and 10 on opposite 12

Rookie Qb

YOU RUN THE BALL TWICE; EAT THE CLOCK AND SEE WHAT YOU GET

After the great play I said: "come on, run baby run and let's see".

You can't call a pass play on that...

You're a moron.

If they had scored the TD, you would been on here saying what a great call it was.

Go ahead. I'm sure you're going to deny it.

No way

when we got the first down on the 12, I wanted us to run twice

Plain and simple

just like I wanted us to run in the final drive

but I don't care aymore since we won...

:D

I've got to agree. We have a great running game, GB isn't effective at stopping the run. Even if we get stopped and have to kick a FG, it's a two score game. We could get a 1st down without scoring, could have eaten off a ton of clock.

I was expecting to see the run come out in that situation. Ryan is a rookie, and he played great at GB. If you keep going to the pass, eventually he's going to make a mistake. Why risk it when they can't stop Turner?

After Boley's pick, they were in the exact same situation and ran it. Guess what? We scored because GB's run defense is donkey.

Just because everything worked out, doesn't mean it was a good idea.

YOu're wrong here.

THat was the perfect call there. Ryan missthrew it, resulting in the INT.

Sometimes, the call is the right one, but the execution isn't there. That was this case.

Maybe I'm an idiot

But I keep thinking that if I have a great running game and I'm leading in the 4th quarter, I call a running play instead of a pass, especially if my Qb is a rookie

You can't change my mind about that

4th quarter+leading+great running game+red zone= RUN and RUN again

You'd of gotten eaten up at the LOS, if not for a loss b/c GB would of been sitting on it.

I thought the biggest problem people had with our old coaches was that they were "too predictable"...

I like these coaches but sometimes I don't agree (like I didn't agree with them in the game against the lions)

They trust Matt, ok

But I would like them to call more rushing plays in the red zone

We have Turner and Norwood, let's use them

If the running play goes bad, there's the FG, 3 points

If the passing play goes bad, it could be an INT, 0 points

Serves two reasons to throw the ball with a lead:

1) Makes opponents have to guard against both, and not be able to stack the line to stop the run, greater increasing the chances of scoring TDs which win games.

2) Gives you a chance to give a rookie QB experience throwing the ball in the Red Zone in non-critical situations.

The pass was a great play call. Receiver was wide open. Ryan just failed to execute. It's not like we abandoned the run, just took a well calculated shot for a touchdown that would have put the game away. Championship teams bury the opponent when they have the opportunity. They don't start playing conservatively. I applaud this offensive philosophy.

For too many years we've seen the offense go into a shell with a lead only to allow the opponent to comeback and win. This wus offensive philosophy, play not to lose, and the prevent defense are two things I hate most from any coach. Smith has made it clear he plays to win and it shows. Better times are coming for this team.
