YKW haters, resolve this.. Some media reports say Vick's contract is terminated, but is that true?

Or if it isn't terminated, then the Falcons MUST PAY HIM HIS SALARY...

Can't have it BOTH WAYS...Mr. Blank/McKay and media..which is it..

Where is the report?

Vick is on suspension from a higher source than the Falcons. Vick's contract is actually through the Falcons but the NFL has control over certain aspects of that contract, including suspensions without pay (and the Falcons have some rights to suspend Vick without pay as well in addition to what the NFL does).

I can't believe some people are this dense.

Actually they can, and do, have it both ways. Vick's contract has not been terminated, but he has been suspended from the league indefinately. Since he's not working (or, in this case, playing) he isn't getting paid. What's more, I wouldn't expect the team to terminate its contractual relationship with Vick until doing so would provide as much financial/cap benefit as possible to the team.

When Vick gets out, the Falcons and the NFL will have to do something. Play him/Pay him or release him.

And Vick has the option of taking Blank/McKay to court if they try to impede his playing career...this may be an effort to work out a financial settlement with Blank without draft picks involved.

Right now, the league and Blank can have it BOTH WAYS, because he is currently in jail. But once Vick gets out, THINGS WILL CHANGE!! and this is why the courts and creditors have been so aggressive with Vick while he has been in prison...

are you like 11 - as long as he is suspended he will not get paid and when he gets out of jail he will still be suspended and I would love to see him try to take the NFL to court

NFL contracts are not guaranteed unless they specifically say that they are. There has been no indication that the salary portion of Vick's contract is guaranteed: as long as that is the case, we owe him nothing reguardless of what happens. He has already collected all bonus money owed to him, so he would be owed no money after termination.

He is in violation of his contract. He is not terminated. The Falcons do not have to pay him squat because he's not working. When Ricky Williams did this to the Dolphins, due to him being in violation of his contract, they kept the rights to him for the remaining years of his contract at the NFL minimum and he couldn't do anything about it. That is Vick's fate. Ricky proved himself and the Dolphins renegotiated giving him more than the minimum. But that was their choice. If we keep Vick, we have him at league minimum for the duration of his contract.

Ricky Williams and Pac Mans lega situation and the way the NFL reacted are different...it was treated much more differently..Williams were a habitual offender and so was Pac Man with his arrests.

The NFL will have to defend if their flawed policy in court. Does Goddell want to go down this road? He and the Falcons will likely come to a resolution in which Blank will get his money and Vick will get his freedom and Goddell can stay out of the headlines and keep the NFL out of court.

The NFL got rules, but they can STILL BE CHALLENGED AND OVERRULED... Goddell can gamble and be vindictive or he can find a fair resolution..

:lol: Now your an attorney what a joke. Please explain why he would take Blank or McKay? to court. You can't cite one precedence, case law, notta. Perhaps you could educate us in the area of contract law and how it pertains to the NFL. That would be amusing. Please stop making things up that most of the board discussed way back when and know you are wrong. Goodell suspended Vick therefore his salary is not paid. Vick already spent all his guaranteed money on dogfighting and his cigar/wine bar in crack town. That portion of the money still affects the cap prorated over a certain number of years.

Year after year players think they are bigger than the team and want out of their contract. The head coach and GM just laugh and say if your going to cry you can sit on the bench and watch your career go down the tube.

You shouldn't post crap like this, citing media reports without a link to back up your post. Otherwise you'll get flamed an rightfully so.

You left out a third, and perhaps most likely, option: Continue his suspension. The reason the league and team can have it both ways actually has nothing to do with Vick being incarcerated - it is because he is indefinately suspended.

You continue to insist you want Vick to take the league and Blank to court, yet you do not say why or what for. Over his contract? Over the Personal Conduct Policy? Again, I urge you to think this through before you answer because, yes, it is a trick question,
