Chiefs fan (I come in peace)

I've been a Chiefs fan since 1970. The photo above is me on my 12th birthday in 1972 proudly wearing my

Chiefs varsity jacket that my parents gave me that day. You'll notice all the photos on my walls behind me.

My ENTIRE room was covered with Chiefs photos, posters, etc... Len Dawson, Buck Buchanan, Willie Lanier,

Otis Taylor are just a few that you may recognize in the photo.

I recently attended my 30 year high school reunion and at least 4 guys asked me "Are you still a Chiefs fan?"

I wore KC t-shirts or jerseys five days a week from 5th grade until high school. Thing is, I don't live in Kansas

City or any where near it. I live in N.E. Mississippi. I have always been the lone Chiefs fan wherever I go.

I now have a 12 year old son (same age as me in the photo) who is as crazy about the Chiefs as I was

at his age. He is now the odd ball wearing Chiefs jerseys each day at school among all the others

wearing Colts, Giants, Patriots gear. I tell him to let them know that we are "TRUE FANS" and not ones

that just jumped on the band wagon after a Super Bowl win. When things turn around in a few years

he can remind them that he was with the team in the difficult years.

My son and I will be at the Dome this Sunday. We'll be among the few that will make the sacrifice

to travel and support the Chiefs. I'm looking forward to the trip and hope that I might meet some of

you from the forum.

I'm glad to see that many here are long time Falcons' fans and are TRULY supportive of the team

regardless of wins or losses. You guys have SO much promise. I hope the best for you and

maybe, JUST MAYBE we'll see a Chiefs versus Falcons Super Bowl in the near future.....

ATTACK! Seriously, that's a pretty cool post. I'm all too familiar with the Colts fans you're talking about...they were freaking annoying last year at the Thanksgiving game. I have no problems with people that support a team year in and out but there were far too many that jumped on the Colts bandwagon the year they won the Superbowl.

Wow. Welcome and good luck on Sunday. I don't remember Falcons merchandise being available when I was that age. I wanted a Falcons lunch box so badly but my grandmother could not find one anywhere. My sister ended up painting my metal spiderman lunchbox with the old Falcons logo. Up close it was still easy to see the raised relief image of spiderman. It took a lot of flack over that lunch box. Partly for supporting the Falcons, partly for my homemade lunchbox. Wish I still had it. I would so sport it to work daily! :D

Your ability to stick with your team through thick and thin is something to be admired. If only our own fans could show that type of dedication. Good luck and hopefully we have an injury free game.

Maybe you should go back and read the topic - how long have you been on the bandwagon. There are plenty of Falcon fans who stick with them good or bad. I've been a Falcon fan since 1966. 42 years. I've lived in South Florida and travel to St Pete once a month. I've never changed loyalties and I've taken the crud all around me. Guess what - I'm not the only Falcon fan in that boat. So, don't group real fans in with bandwagon fans and basher lovers

Hope you have a great time. Come early and visit Falcons Landing outside the dome - it's a lot of fun and fans of the opposing team are welcome - just be sure to expect some ribbing. I'll be at the game as well - maybe we'll see you there. Always welcome true fellow fans (no matter which team) - Good luck to you (but not too much) Hope it's an injury free game!

I hope that you run into the good Falcon fans and not the rubbish that you see a lot around here and may encounter in Atlanta. Man I wish I could buy the seats around ya just to protect you and give you and your son what you deserve, a great game day experience. Unfortunately I won't be able to do that, but I hope that someone else around you will have the respect that all fans should have for other fans. Talk trash, run each other into the ground, but nothing too vulgar or obscene, just good clean fun!

I think thats the coolest post ever!!! Im sort of the same boat you are in. I been a falcon fan for a long time. since i was a junior in highschool 1993 and im from virginia. As a matter of fact imma Hawk and Braves fan. my friends always ask me how come im not a redskin fan..lol. Im just a die hard atlanta fan. and if it wasnt for me being in iraq during the NBA playoffs i wouldve flew down from seatte(where im stationed) to at least one playoff game.

Theres nothing a true fan with memories.
