Holes in the secondary need to be addressed

Recommended Posts

Of all of the good aspects of the game today, the one thing that really stuck out as a sore point was our pass defense. It's a good thing that Griese kept missing on his long throws since it seemed like there was a player running free in the secondary at least once every possession. I don't know whether it was a scheme problem or just mental mistakes, but something definitely needs to be changed for next week.

I don't think it was that bad. Really our defense kept us in the game. Every NFL offense is going to be able to move the ball at some point. I was more concerned with our run defense. I think that the Lions were more impressive throwing the ball than the Bucs.

Chalk that up to inexperienced secondary. This time next year, we're going to be impressed with their play.

im sorry, but wasnt lofton suppose to be a run stuffer? and they ran up the middle all the time. i say we get a good coverage MLB and move to the cover 2 for the time being, then go cover 2 once the secondary gets better. id rather have them rushing, when we could use an excuse, but the runs were horrible.

I think the game plan was to do a lot of Zone Blitzing in order to get pressure on griese, and when the pressure didint get there he found the open man. There are usually holes in zones and if you give the QB and WR enough time they wil exploit them. Overall I thought they did a pretty good job griese was like 15 of 32 or something
