They would put him in the shotgun, let him take the direct snap, and then usually let him run with it. Sometimes though, he would pull up and throw a pass to keep defenses honest with him in the game.The advantage is that there is one more blocker in the game - no QB to simply hand the ball off and get out of the play. However, most NFL RB's don't have the skills to throw a decent pass against coverage, so I'm not sure how well it would work here. Without that ability, defenses can bring extra defenders into the box and basically neutralize the advantage. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
