SiViK_OuTkAsT™
If he can do that, he will tie the Single Season Rushing Record for the Falcons, set by JA in 1998 for 1846 yards. Turner has 220 in the bank with 1626 to go over 15 games. Do you think he can do it or not? I expect people to vote for the latter question, I know someone will. direwolf
Yeah, Jamal got a ton of yards, but we also wore him out in the doing. I'd rather have Turner get less yardage but be a good, strong running back for the rest of his contract/career with us.Of course, if he continues to average 10 yards a carry, he'll knock it out lickety split and be nice and fresh at the end of the year, too! heheheDirewolf
pzummo
He has a great jumpstart on it, but 1600+ yards is still more than the best backs get in 16 games, and he has 15 he needs to get it in while splitting carries. To put this in perspective, LT led the league with 1474 yards. I voted it's way too early. I know the first game got everybody excited, but 1600 yards is tough to achieve. First, he'll need to stay healthy while maintaining that workload. Second, he'll need to avg over 5 yards a carry through the rest of the season because he'll only be getting 20 carries per game with Norwood splitting time.Third, our passing game led by a rookie QB will need to be consistent in order for him to continue to have rushing lanes. Those are 3 big if's that make this poll WAY too early. But he has had a helluva start.

Just to have something good to talk about. I think in a few games, we will have a better idea of what he has to do.
Theyhateme : )
We've said that we would like to run the ball....I see Turner being able to do this. Especially if there's no heath issues.
innovativefx
I'd rather see him end up with 1200 yards and norwood end up with 1000 yards too.

pzummo
So your the guy who voted it! This poll is for fun any way, I put that there to let everyone know that I'm not saying it will happen. Just to have something good to talk about. I think in a few games, we will have a better idea of what he has to do. Yeah, had to vote that. I went and looked at the leading rusher last season, and it was only 1400 and change. After I saw that, it brought me back to reality as to how difficult it would be in this day and age. Put it this way, if he averaged 5.0 ypc (ridiculous for a starting RB), he would need 369 carries on the season to get 1846 yards. If he averaged 6.0 yards per carry (when is the last time this happened), he would still need 308 carries on the season. I don't want him carrying the ball that many times. So no, I can't imagine him breaking the record, and if he does, I hope it's because he averaged 7 yards per carry.

Norwood averages 6.2 YPC for his career, so I'm sure he averaged over 6 YPC last year.
phattywankenobi
I voted yes because I am rooting for him but he will not get the ridiculous amount of carries JA did. I don't think he is going to run wild on some of the better defenses. I believe his ave YPG will settle back to reality this week against the Bucs. It would be cool to see the RB tandem each break the 1,000 yard mark though. I believe by midseason if they are both on target for that Ryan will get more comfortable and start having a great passing game.

He already has close to 100.Close to 1000 rushing...but his all purpose yardage will be through the roof....He had 165 all purpose yards last week..... It really depends though...if we keep pounding the ball and not worry about Ryans passing yards....Heck yeah....1800 Turner and 1000 Norwood.... SiViK_OuTkAsT™
Even if he doesn't make it, I'm sure everyone will agree it's going to be a heck of a ride watching him run after it this year.

pzummo
I know it's hard to do, but 108 yards a game puts it in better perspective. Norwood averages 6.2 YPC for his career, so I'm sure he averaged over 6 YPC last year.108 yards a game is misleading because people think 100 yards is an average game. The league rushing leader last season only averaged 92 yards per game. So he'd still have to average 16 more yards per game more than last seasons rushing champ. The 10th best RB last season averaged 69.94 yards per game. RB's getting 1000 yards is an achievement, as there are only about 16 that get that many, and that's 62.5 yards per game. Not trying to beat this to death, just trying to put it in perspective because a lot of people on this board have overly high expectations and complain about Dunn's 75 yard rushing performances, meanwhile in reality, it's not that bad. It's not great, but it's actually an above avg game for most backs in the league.
