NCFalcon52
I woke up this morning ready to read about what the NFL is saying about the Falcons and Michael Turners huge game and Ryan's debut with his first pass being a 62 yard touchdown pass. I went to ESPN.com and found that there was no link on the home page to anything about Turner who is now leading the NFL in Rushing Yards, Matt Ryan who won as a Rookie and had his 1st pass was a 62 yard touchdown (what other Rookie QB's 1st pass even ranks with this one), and the Falcons rushing for more than 300 yards. SetzerFalcon
As thrilled as I was over the victory yesterday, and all that went along with it, I can't really fault ESPN for that one. Brady's injury is a huge deal to the majority of NFL fans. They've spoken about us several times on Sirius NFL radio however.

Well, at least they mention us. It will take winning next week with good numbers by Turner and Ryan to get noticed. In all due respect, it was a big weekend in sports. Almost all of those stories are more important to the nation than the Falcons. The Chase was decided in NASCAR on Sunday. The US Open women's final was yesterday. The PGA Tour Playoffs held another event. The Phllies-Mets and D'backs-Dodgers series were huge series in baseball, as those teams were battling head-to-head for their respective divisions. The new college football AP poll is out and a pioneer basketball coach passed away yesterday.Even in football it was obvious Favre's first game as a Jet and Brady's injury are bigger stories. Those are two former MVPs and two future Hall of Famers. Both men are more well known than anyone who took the field at the Dome. Also, the way the Panthers won their game made them a big story. The Colts opened up a new stadium, so that's big news as well. I'd argue whether the Buccaneers-Saints game was a bigger story than our game, though. It was a good win for us, but not too many people outside of Georgia or Michigan will find a story about our game very fascinating. It's hard to say our game is one of the top 10 sports stories from yesterday. There is no conspiracy against us. Then again, on TV ESPN is just doing what it always does: using too many talking heads to overanalyze a story.
TheDirtyWordII
While the Falcons surprising win is obviously a big deal to us...a few things to point out:1) It was against the Lions...a team not really respected either.2) Tom Brady having a catastrophic injury is GIGANTIC. I mean, the reach his personal brand has not only as it relates to NFL Sundays but past that. Remember when Vick got injured? This is MUCH bigger than that.3) Brett Favre playing in his first regular season game outside of a Packer uniform against the Dolphins now lorded over by the Tuna is also much more significant than our win.
