Herr Doktor
I am so proud to be a Falcons fan. Young Ryan had a nice debut, TURNER IS THE REAL DEAL!!!!! Jerious was great, our defense came up when it needed to, Abraham is a BEAST STILL, our play calling was varied and a nice surprise. Van Goder has the Defense playing with aggression and desire. ANd the offensive line looked really good.I think what can be derived from this is two things. One, its amazing when you bring in Football people to make football decisions, and two, its even more amazing to get the right player and introduce said player to PROFESSIONAL COACHES WHO CAN ACTUALLY COACH!!!!!!I will say that I knew we would win, and that we would be decent. But I think teams must really take a look at this and do a double take. I am by no means being unrealistic about things. I still think we will have a long season with alot of lumps and a lot of learning. However I will stick to my prediction that we will rain on a few parades and ruin someones hunt for the playoffs!Woohoo! Well done guys! I am so hoarse after screaming at my TV that I need to go gargle with something alcoholic and tasty! A great start to the first season of the great Atlanta Falcon turn around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dardan
This was an impressive win. I was at the dome, and really enjoyed the game. It was great to see us get out to such a fast start. I've read a lot about how bad Detroit played; but they were the favorites coming in to the game. It's one thing to face a bad team...it's another thing to take advantage of it. Atlanta took advantage. Well done.

Well done.my sentiments exactly. detroit is by no means a high caliber team, but their offense has some firepower. our defense had their hands full and the offense did what they were suppose to do against a porous defense. i expect to lose alot of games this season, but as long as we beat the bad teams, i wont get heartburn from all the growing pains. who knows? you string a couple of these together and it builds momentum. beat the bucs. stumpjumper
We didn't make many mistakes, and the ones we did make didn't cost us TOO dearly. I think we came out and balled well
slamee101
Yes, I know it's just the first week...Yes, I know it was Detroit...but MAN! I was OVERJOYED with that win today! Ryan looked good but Turner and Norwood were AWESOME! If this is a sign of things to come Kudos to the front office and the staff. We don't need to ask Matt to put the franchise on his back...let the running game carry us and let Ryan grow into the position. Similar to what Pittsburgh did with Roethlisberger. OMG it was great to watch it at a sports bar with a ton of folks and be the only Falcons fan while everyone else was saying..."Wow...the Falcons look good!" I'm like, "I know right?!?!?!"Abe is still a beast!Jenkins, stay consistent this year...having him and Roddy play at a high level would be HUGE! QV_26
im excited too, but a couple things worried me. 1, ryan was just ok. we haven't seen him truly tested yet because we just ran all day. but the big thing was before the 2nd half. we should've ran the ball. we were up 14...no reason to get greedy and try and get more. it didn't bite us in the but this time, but next time we might not be so lucky. I think The coaching staff wanted to go for it for confidence, but to see what we have. I am sure they know we will be tested with our backs to the wall, so while we are up and have a team with our boots on the neck, why not see how we do by going for it! jidady
One of the most impressive aspects of this game, something we can't count on happening again this year, is that we threw 13 passes in scoring 34 points. That's something that is rare outside of high school football but Pittsburgh and Atlanta both did that today. Ryan averaged 12.4 yards an attempt today. That's unconscious though it's heavily skewed by one play. It was still 7.9 yards an attempt if we take out the 66-yard air strike, which is excellent. Stewie
I like the fact that we stuck with what was working. We were able to run at will, so Mularkey and his staff kept pounding the ball. There was no reason to throw the ball excessively...just do what works.I am really excited about this team. At the very least we can see progress! dardan
I am really excited about this team. At the very least we can see progress!Yes, I agree. This was just a first step - but a step in the right direction. Considering how last season played out, you can't help but be encouraged by the progress this organization has made. jluk
its always great to get the 1st win. especially in the 1st game!! it is such a confident builder. 2 things that stood out:1.) o-line MADE PLAYS!! were physical and managed the los most of the time. very smart in dictating the line. very smart utilization in exerting pushes and then conserving strength. the o-line was managed very well. rotating the line was great too, did i see blalock play tackle and guard?? 2.) playcalling was superb!!! also wish turner had that 3rd td, he DESERVED IT!!! it was called back, i think it was roddy holding?? klmcd25
hopefully this is a sign of things to come. as long as ryan progresses, and tries to eliminate the mistakes we should be alright. looks like we are headed in the right direction though.
