Cowboys released OL James Marten.

Marten, the Cowboys' third-round pick in 2007, gets the boot to make room for wide receiver Mike Jefferson.

I really like this guy.....Dallas will try to sign him to their practice squad........This guy is worth a look.......I wanted the falcons to draft James Martin in 07

I loved him outta BC.. Dont know whats wrong wit him but he was a big prospect. Figuratively and literally.

They cut him because they needed to sign another WR....the cowboys WR group is not looking good...... But yea....if Martin clear waivers.... The cowboys will sign him to their practice squad

If we were to get a guy like Marten, why not get rid of Ojinakka? What has Ojinakka shown that has value to this team? We already have a lineman backing up for every position on the line. Ojinakka is listed as the back up left tackle as of now. I really don't think he is a good left tackle at all. I think he can play right tackle and right guard decent. James Marten is said to have size, nasty attitude and good technique and footwork. i would like to see what Marten brings to table.

he's ok, i was hoping they would cut doug free. james martin did look good in the senior bowl if i remember right though. the problem is if we sign him we would need to cut ojinakka or wilkerson and even though i've been wanting an upgrade over ojinakka for some time we would have nobody to back up baker. stepanovich is hurt i guess which is why we kept 3 OC's. if step is recovered well enough to play if need be i would love to pick up martin in exchange for wilkerson. ojinakka can play LT and LG. i hope we draft a legit back up LT next year in rd 3 or 4.

Oji has been cross trained to play EVERY position on the o line.

that is something that you don't see often in the nfl.

He is athletic and he has temper of his own, and while he is not a GREAT lineman he is good enough to keep around.

Marten spent time in college at both tackles and guard. Plus he is a solid 3rd rounder who Dallas is trying to sneak onto their PS the day before everyone plays their first game.
