Derrick Lott, three-star defensive line prospect at North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., has been getting a lot of attention from Georgia. He visited Athens last weekend, and he has three of his official visits planned.

"I went to UGA for the opener against Southern (Georgia Southern)," said Derrick Lott. "I plan to attend some more upcoming games, like at Florida State. I've been thinking about all of my official visits lately."

"I know that I'll go to Oklahoma State, Louisville and South Carolina. Those are the three that I know of so far. Right now I'm thinking that Georgia and Florida State might be the other two (official visits). That could change."

The versatile defensive lineman had a chat with an important figure while in Athens.

"I talked to Mark Richt," he said. "I talked with him about the program. They're gonna wait to see if I qualify. If I qualify he said that I'll have an offer from them. It was great to sit and talk with him."

"I'll take it really seriously if they offer. They'll definitely move up in my rankings. That would be great."

Lott is keeping his options open.

"I like all of the schools that have offered," he said. "It'll really come down to the day that I commit. Everybody is open for a top spot."

Three schools have been in close contact with Lott in recent weeks, and one of those schools has been keeping in contact since the beginning of his recruitment.

"I'd say lately that it's South Carolina, UGA, and Oklahoma State, that have been showing me the most attention," he stated. "Oklahoma State has been showing me love ever since they offered me. They were the first to offer. They've shown the most attention throughout the year."

North Cobb will open their season this weekend against the No. 4 ranked MLK. Lott feels that moving to the outside and being healthy will propel him to new heights.

"I know that my stats are going higher than last year," he commented. "I'll be playing d-end (defensive end) this year. My stats from last year were all at defensive tackle."

"I think that I can get to 15 or 20 sacks. I'd like to get over 100 tackles."
