Falcons 1,500 tickets away from avoiding blackout

Wednesday, September 03, 2008

Staff reports

With less than 24 hours to sell out the Georgia Dome and avoid a television blackout of Sunday’s season opener, the Falcons had 1,500 tickets available Wednesday.

By NFL rules, the Falcons must sell out the stadium by 1 p.m. on Thursday or have the game against Detroit blacked out locally.

On Tuesday, the Falcons offered $10 discounts on single-game tickets for the season opener in an effort to sell out the stadium. The offer is good through Thursday.

The Falcons had two games blacked out locally last season — a Week 9 game against San Francisco and the final game of the year against Seattle.

Wow that's cold might be he can't afford to buy tickets did you think of that. I love people who think they are so High and Mighty. If you don't know for what reason someone has not purchased tickets don't be critical of them because they are up-set about a black out.

The old saying goes something like this: Don’t judge someone else until you have walked a mile in his shoes. It’s good advice. You never know what someone is dealing with unless you are in the same position they are. It’s easy to be judgmental from a distance

THANK YOU AN GOD BLESS

no im not buying tickets. does that make me less of a fan, no it doesnt. like TD said win and they will come. we have a new, rebuilt team, why spend money on something when you dont know what your gonna get out of it? i feel sorry for season ticket holders who spent their money last season. it wasnt worth it.

It will run Blank/TV station under 100k to buy up the remaining tickets. IMO there is no way he will allow it to be blacked out for such a relatively low amount of money. Over $6million per game in player salaries, how could he not spend an extra 100k to get the game on local television???

TV station also stands to lose advertising $$$ if they can't show the game live, so they will probably chiip in too.

PS- what site does the poster who watches on the computer use to watch Falcons games streamed online live? I have looked before and never been able to find it.

So....what he's saying is "give me a pass because I can't afford the ticket, however; the rest of you should step up to the plate and spend your money so I can watch it for free?"

There's no guarantee that someone will PIRATED VIDEO IS ILLEGAL Sunday's game (in all likelihood I would say no, because none of the teams are very popular), but if it happens you will find all the links and info you need on www.myp2p.eu.

And yes, I definitely think Arthur should buy out the remaining tickets. He has to.

why are people makin a big deal over 1500 tickets? the dome holds like 58000 or something? that is like less than 2% of the seats with a whole day to go  !! thats pennies to blank and fox!! why the overreaction???

70K is the capacity....1500 tix @30.00 ea = 45k That's not pennies....it's a 45k loss.....in terms of an investment.....right??

So why not but the tickets and then turn around and give them away(to a charity) Its a tax write off after that. So take a 45k loss make it in to a PR. stun and save money on taxes...its a win win situation for everyone.
