Lightmare
Before we start, I am not a UGA fan. They won, but maybe some think it wasn't in enough of a convincing fashion since they didn't run up the score. At the same time, USC played a gutted Virginia team. USC is number one, has an off week and next week is the showdown with Ohio State. Ohio State should win this next game with ease even without Wells, and I will not be shocked if they are bumped to #2 just so the hype for the game will be the top two ranked teams. Advertising at its best... kinda cheesy, but it will bank big money
Demetrius Dew
Yes so we can have a Game of the Century that is not for the National Championship or not directly for the National Championship.

BBurgFalconFan
USC jumped because they beat a BCS team, and UGA and Ohio State beat ex-Division 1aa teams. plain and simple. They won't stay their long if Georgia wins all their games (which i dont think they will, but they could) they will jump ahead because of the SEC strength of schedule. Demetrius Dew
What I was thinking. Reminds me of the Mich/OSU game in 06Don't care what anyone says that was the game of the decade maybe not century but definitely game of the decade. #1 vs #2 back and fourth all game only with Michigan losing by only 3 points. Great Game nonetheless.

SacFalcFan
Ivan Maisel on USC jump... 1. I'm a bowl guy, not a playoff guy, but here's what I don't like about polls: USC overtakes Georgia in the AP and USA Today votes Tuesday. At first glance, that makes sense. The Trojans beat Virginia 52-7, while the Bulldogs beat FCS Georgia Southern 45-21. But first glance is all some voters make. Georgia led its game 38-0 when coach Mark Richt pulled his starters. That's the result that counts.
Demetrius Dew
a game between two big 10 teams who both got blown out in their bowl games is not the game of the decade/century/even year..Your crazy, please give me the game of the decade than? Just because it did not involve 2 or any SEC schools does not degrade that game any. And regardless of the outcome of the bowl games does not degrade that game either. This is what many mean by SEC blinders. <_<

That was the game of the decade IMO up to this point, but that can change since we have plenty of games to play. Yes the outcome of the bowl games do matter when we talk about the quality of each team. Two teams who got blown out when they played outside their conference don't count at all toward a game of any year. The lsu/uf game of that season with two great teams was a much better matchup when it comes to quality teams.

slamee101
Interesting theory. If OSU jumps Georgia next week we'll know for sure...then ESPN/ABC will be talking about how the game (which airs on ABC) is the best regular season matchup we've seen in years. Example if Navy and Army came into their game both 0-10 and played in a shoutout that was back in fourth all game and came down to the last 1:00 of the game it would be a great game now add a conference title, national championship, heisman consideration between the 2 top ranked teams that are among the top 5 rivalry games in sports in the nation and that is my vote for game of the decade period. When can agree to disagree on this one I guess, because it is an opinionated question based on one mans opinion. <_< <_<
Remarkable
Texas/USC was the game of the decade in my opinion. Too bad USC wasn't able to move the ball at the end to force OT. I'm not a Vince Young fan at all, he is a terrible NFL QB, but he came to play that night. Definitely deserved that win.Unfortunately USC didn't have that SEC speed on defense to contain VY. As far as OSU/USC, they're definitely hyping the game. It's whatever as long as Georgia stays top 2. I expect OSU to somehow move up to 2 this week, but one team has to lose so it doesn't matter. Of course I wouldn't put it past the voters to keep both in the top 2 regardless.
Xnex
Two things1) If Ohio State jumps UGA then something is wrong. Provided, of ocurse, that UGA does what it's supposed to do against "directional" Michigan. I understand southern cal jumping the Dawgs because they were terribly impressive in their opener, and the original voting was pretty close prior to the season. It doesn't really matter this early in the year anyway, eventhough I understand how UGA fans could be miffed.2) I agree with Demetrius' reasoning about the game of the week/year/decade/century. It doesn't necessarily have to be between the two best teams in the country to qualify. A great game is a great game no matter who's playing it. Again, not really important anyway. IMO to be considered a game of the decade you have to first have something on the line and an nc is a huge something and have two great quality opponents and I have to change that game to usc/texas.. there is not one game I have seen other than osu/miami that matched that game. I can't believe I forgot that with my initial post..

I can see that happening. Then they get their nice #1 verses #2. Some of the ap voters were hilarious.. one guy moved uga from 1st to 7th and usc up to 1st to make sure that uga lost enough points so they wouldn't be in #1 anymore.. I loved the guy who moved alabama from unranked to #3 in the country after one game.. that's some great voting there.. lol
