if we get pressure early, we can rattle kitna. they have no running game, so we don't need to put 8 people in the box, and the cover 2 scheme is good against 2 top receivers in johnson and williams. We will not have any man coverage, and that will help our young secondary. They will get their yards on us through the air, but their run game is suspect with KJ gimped, Johnson just signed and gimped, and Forte being a rookie. If we can hit Kitna a couple times early, we have a chance, but if we get no pressure on him, it will be a tough game.

Not really if you read through the post most of them are saying good things about us.

I feel like I'm saying it every time I post, but I'll say it again... the pre season isn't the same as the regular season. Yes, the Lions should probably be able to beat the Falcons. However, the falcons do have some talent on their roster. They have very good linebackers, have an inexperienced (but talented) QB, a good RB who loves to run inside between the tackles, and a very good #1 WR. You can't overlook anyone in the NFL. Both teams will come out strong after taking it easy in the Pre-Season. Hopefully the Lions can come away with the win.

Like last year, this is a game I'm really worried about.

Against the Raiders we were expected to win, but I felt they were much improved of their number one draft pick the year before. This year is a little bit of the same, all though the Falcons aren't really that improved - they still have a good defense and pretty good running game. We might be expected to win here, but its not far fetched to say we could loose and if we do loose it won't be good for us as its always good to start of the season on a high note.

If there is a game that you just didn't want to loose in the regular season, aside from winning to get into the playoffs, is the opener. I'm cautiously optimistic for this one.

I guess what struck me most about your post were the words "I expect." If you expect every Lions "skill" player on the field to score a touchdown, your expectations are WAY too high. I sure as **** HOPE they all score one, but I certainly don't expect it.

Like many have said, there are no easy victories in the NFL unless you're an elite team. The Lions are not an elite team... they're middle of the pack at best. The difference between a middle of the pack team and a "bad" team is not as big as most people would like to believe.

You know I don't know how you guys can think we can keep up with the Lions? I mean a team that goes 16 and 0 and only loses in the Super Bowl -- that is still a pretty good team!!! They were ranked in the top 10 in both offense and defense last year as well. They have the number one quarterback in John Kitna -- and a **** of a running game with what's his name.

Uh, oh - wait a second. I actually think I was confusing the 7 and 9 Lions (#32 in defense) with the New England Patriots. As a matter of fact -- I think a lot of the fans on that site are confusing them with the Patriots as well. Folks -- we are talking about the Lions here. Exactly WHAT have they done to improve from last year ???

They do have a match up edge against the falcons. No matter what you think their WR against your secondary is a very good match up for them and if you can't generate a pass rush it will get ugly. Plus they may have a running game now with Rudi J and Rookie Kevin Smith who I liked in the draft. If their Def. plays as well as they did in (preseason) this will be a hard fight for the Falcon.

Detroit has had a ton of 1st round WR's for a number of years and it hasn't exactly translated into playoff wins. For 3 years in a row they drafted a WR in the first round. Yes they have highly touted WR's and no there team has not been a consistent winner. That put's them pretty much as the same status as us. They are not exaclty creme of the nfl crop either so there's is no way they should think we will be a cake walk.
