Look at it like this. We spent a 7th round pick on Fontenot, who couldn't even make the team. So, a 7th round pick for a young guy with 20+ NFL starts is pretty solid. I don't have the same confidence in the current regime's ability to pick out late round studs that I did with McKay. Foxworth is a player I like and he could be a longer term solution at the position if we extend him.

Wow I got home from school and saw the trade for him.. lmfao first i saw a broncos CB im like CHAMP????!?! But Foxworth is a GREAT CB. I'm so happy right now. He is a great addition and hes a good guy. We got him for a 7th rounder... that is an absolute STEAL! We just robbed the Broncos. This guy is good and i love this trade. Great job TD.

Looks like another good move by our front office. I like the direction we seem to be heading in: obtaining another quality player with talent and solid character. I just finished listening to an interview that was done in Denver with Foxworth, discussing how the Broncos told him that he was about to be traded, and he was the consummate professional in every way.

Foxworth interview 9/1

Based upon his background and experience, Domonique appears to be a pretty smart guy and my guess is that he'll get the playbook down pretty quickly and make a contribution in short order. In addition to the advantage of his on-field skills, the metro-ATL area stands to benefit from Foxworth becoming part of our community. Hope he performs well and that we can keep him around here!

Foxworth is a versatile player that will definitely help our secondary. He spent time at cornerback, safety and nickel back during his tenure in Denver. For the cost of a seventh round pick, you can't argue with the price.

I've read we would also have to give Denver a 6th round pick if we resign Foxworth, but I have not seen confirmation of that.

if we dont resign him we give them a 7th. if we do resign him we give them a 6th. either way we're still giving up just one draft pick and its a pretty low pick.

and we will still have 7 draft picks in the upcoming draft.

1. 1st round ATL

2. 2nd round ATL

3. 3rd round ATL

4. 4th round ATL

5. 5th round ATL

6. 5th round ATL (from OAK)

7. 6th round ATL (goes to denver if we do resign foxworth)

8. 7th round ATL (goes to denver if we dont resign foxworth)

He played behind Bly and Bailey.

He's got 4.3 speed.

He would be a good #2 here. (He would have been that in Denver, that is, if he didn't play behind Bly and Bailey...)

He's a good tackler and decent Cover 2 corner.

He's young and has a good nose for the ball. (still needs to work on man to man coverage though)

He's a community guy.

Factor in all of that, I'd say "yes". He's a definite improvement.

I just want to know why the broncos gave up on the guy. I guess I'm just skeptical.

I've heard a couple of times is that he butted heads with Shanahan due to him not getting alot of playing time.

And everyone knows that you don't butt heads with Shanahan. He'll bury you on the bench or get rid of you. (Which would explain how we got Foxworth for a 7th rounder.)

Reading their message boards, they have way to many quality DBs and Foxworth was in a contract year. A few had negatives to say, but then again, what fan base doesn't about ANY player.

Coming from Denver and learning behind Champ and Dre, he should have a lot to give to our younger guys...

I just hope he has a great work ethic... He is in a contract year, so it makes sense for him to come in and do everything he can to improve the team. He has good skills and should be an immediate upgrade once he learns the defense...

This is just another reason to like TD and Smitty... They are improving this team on a near daily basis...
