pzummo
That actually sounds like a possibility. When I saw him smash helmets and tackle our own player after the play was over, I thought he was overly pumped. I mean, smack somebody on the helmet, sure. But tackle him after the play was over? That would've been unsportsmanlike/personal foul if it wasn't players on the same team. Personally, I like the fire, and didn't mind seeing it when it happened. But after watching that and hearing a report that he talked too much, I can see that being a possibility.
FalconFanForLife
Ahh who knows why they really released him. I did think Lofton looked better in games, so it may be as simple as that. If there was some internal drama, then the Falcons are doing a nice job of keeping that kind of locker room illness very quiet.I hope Tony does well somewhere else, but Lofton was very impressive in preseason. innovativefx
Why would a undrafted rookie talk crap? That is crazy. If that is the truth - his attitude will hurt him for the rest of his life. I really didn't think he was good anyways... Lofton is MUCH better - and the guy we brought in HAS to better than Taylor as well.

btheman71
My guess is he didn't take the news of being second string too well. He might have said some things he shouldn't have. Something along those lines.
Magic Man
That's unfortunate, because I thought he would've provided great depth, but if you talk crap, you move on. This is a team now, and you either get in line or get off at the next stop.
GEORGIAfan
the samer person who said that you cant take anything for granted being a UDFA. yea i dont really believe all that. CMR would have stopped all that i believe it was an ST decision, plus i think TT could make PS then come back next year.

GEORGIAfan
georgiafan,if it truly is an "attitude issue" as to why Tony Taylor was cut - he most certainly would not be on the practice squad either.like i said i dont believe it was one. i mean i guess he could have been upset at losing his job, but he is a UDFA, and he said himself that he knows that he cant take stuff for granted and that he has to do his best every day. it doesnt seem like TT, but if its true, then he is mos def not the future. i only support guys that are good on and off the field, and are team players and want whats best for the team. TheDirtyWordII
You're not going to develop a guy like Taylor who lost his job to a rookie. Thus, what become most important from that position is what they can produce on special teams. Gilbert seems accomplished in this area (plus his familiarity with Smith/Van Gorder also worked in his favor). This is not to say Taylor won't land elsewhere, but his career needed for him to be any place but Atlanta now. P-Dub
Well I said right-away that his release was probably off-the-field-related.
BBurgFalconFan
he was cut because he thought he was hot stuff, and Lofton turned out to be way better. that is why. i think Taylor read these messageboards with all the UGA homers on his jock, and he thought he was a probowler already. ha, GO LOFTON

oregonsfan
Ledbetter clarified his comments about Taylor:Nothing to explain on Tony Taylor. For an undrafted free agent, who’s done nothing in the league, he talked too much. Got on folks nerves. Just shut up and play. There’s an old NFL mantra that “Undrafted FAs” need to be seen — preferably making plays — and not heard.
