all in favor of a new rule for the board say I

Recommended Posts

We really need to make this happen. I for one am tired of seeing the DJ threads and people who make them who just want attention. they make the thread, it gets about 30 replys but none of them are from the creator of the thread. its a waste of time and space. The DJ thing is over now, he made the team, everyone is proud of him, but hes the 3rd string QB, so lets just leave it at that.

I'll sign this any day of the weak and while im at it i'll talk the mods into adding back my other 4k or so posts.

Nay. It's not quantity, it is quality that folks should be concerned with. By your logic, Jigga Donkey has more clout around here than me who adopted the Falcons since I moved to Atlanta in '97. I would rather give the Mod's the ability to lock and zap threads that are spam/repeats of other topics/or started by trolls.

Yeah I think that would be a good idea. As far as posting restrictions for official boards go, ours are about the most lax of any in the NFL...

Maybe not 300 posts, but probably at least 30 or so would be a good idea. Enough so that someone would have to put in some effort to join up with a bogus name and make bogus threads.

I don't mind the trolls as much as I mind the attention to them. Someone might have a really good football post with 1 to 2 replies, meanwhile some ****** yelling about DJ being the best or King Arthur crap has like 300 replies. Some people here just play right into their hands. Sometimes I don't know who is dumber, the trolls or some of the posters who don't learn.

I like this idea too. I've seen it applied on many other message boards, and it goes off without a hitch. It's a policy that works to maintain some peace and civility. Starting threads should be a privilege that one has to earn.

To add another layer to this idea, I suggest we start a POLL to see what everyone thinks should be the number of posts a member must attain before being allowed to start threads.

After all, this is OUR (collective) message board and we do live in a democracy... so I say let's take it to a VOTE!

:D

that's stupid for the basic reason that our this board's IT group has no idea how to convert to new platforms without screwing things up - so you have people like me who have to create 3+ accounts each time they do it!

There should be an option where users vote to get a thread closed. 50 votes or so = automatically deleted thread? Or something like that, user oriented regarding stuff we don't like. How about an option where a user mentions DJ gets automatically banned for 1000 hours.

Yeah, I have a great gimmick with this Spaceballs thing. It's original. I was really drunk one night when I thought it up.

Well, it has a way of making me laugh when I see it. Even during those horrible "dog dayz" of summer we all endured last year it managed to always take the edge off. It's awesome. And that movie cracks me up.
