OVE VALLEY, Colo. (CBS4) ― CBS4 has learned that the Denver Broncos have traded Domonique Foxworth to the Atlanta Falcons.

The Broncos will receive a 7th round draft pick for the 4th year defensive back.

Foxworth is in the final year of his current contract and if he were to resign with Atlanta after this season, the Broncos would also receive a 6th round draft pick.

Foxworth was chosen in the 3rd round of the 2005 NFL draft by the Broncos.

In his 3 years with Denver, he started 18 games.

Last season, he was primarily used as a "nickel back" in passing situations.

Foxworth has also been very involved in the Denver community.

He played an instrumental role in the development of the Darrent Williams Memorial Teen Center in northeast Denver.

Not really starting material, but decent depth with experience, and if I'm not mistaken, he's very fast. Could end up being a really good deal for us.

What? not starting material? he will most likely start very soon! this guy is real good..but never had too many opportunities to look good playing with champ bailey and dre bly..those 2 guys taught him the best of the best..I say start him now!

Although I am excited about acquiring Foxworth it basically boils down to giving a 7th round pick for a one year player, since this is the last year on his current contract. If Foxworth decides to re-sign with the Falcons after this season it evolves into a 6th round pick...

With that caveat, I'll stay cautiously optimistic...

From J.Mike's blog.....

Reports from the Bronco-hungry Denver media have fourth-year cornerback Domonique Foxworth heading to Atlanta.

According to multiple reports, a trade is in the works between the Falcons and Broncos.

As the team's publications coordinator, I worked with Foxworth during his first two seasons in Denver. I put him, Darrent Williams and Karl Paymah (the team's trio of second-year cornerbacks) on a game program cover in early 2006.

Foxworth has started 18 games over the past three seasons and has experience at nickel back, cornerback and safety. Should he join the Falcons, the team would receive an extremely intelligent defensive back and locker-room and community spokesman.

Foxworth graduated high school early and finished a degree in American studies at Maryland in three-and-a-half years. He was a regular blogger on the Broncos website and got involved in the community early in his career.

In three short seasons the defensive back taught writing classes at a Denver-area Boys and Girls Club, published a book, served on the executive board of the NFL Player Conduct Advisory Committee and raised funds for the Darrent Williams Tenn Center.

Foxworth has 166 total tackles, three interceptions and 34 passes defensed in his career. He started both of the team's playoff games in 2005.

And to those who don't see Foxworth as starting capable for us, are you insane????
