Pi Kapp
its hard to call a 7th round draft pick a waste sometimes, but he was probably going to be practice squad material, but he didnt clear waiversoh well. best of luck to him in AZ
ki46dinah
I guess I'll get a chance to see him out here now.Him and guess who.....thats right, Matt Stewart is on the Cards now. That guy was very solid for us back in 2003 and 2004. His release along with Chris Draft were main reasons are run D tanked after that year.
millenium falcon
if TD builds this team into the winner we hope for, there will be A LOT of 7th rders not good enough to make our team. i felt like we threw away our 7th rd picks on draft day, but i did'nt see anyone else they could have drafted so what difference did it make? ThunderCookie
If we get 5 bona fide starters every draft like this one, then I will be happy to give away every 7th rounder.
P-Dub
He was a 7th rounder. Rock and roll. Deal with it.
Norwood32
Glenn Sharpe is better then him and Sharpe is on our Practice Squad so we are good.

dirtybirdz91
Fontenot and(Rodgers-)Cromartie. The Cards radio commentator will have a field day saying that over and over. But yeah, several of our rookies are starting. Our secondary has Grimes and Houston. It would've been nice if Fontenot was kept, but oh well. It doesn't seem like this year's draftees will turn out like the draft Jenkins was in. UCSBDirtyBird
Keep in mind he went to the U of Arizona. Arizona signed him. Could be that he matters more to that team than he does to other teams. Perhaps they will have a debate as to which third string CB should make the team? All fans do that right? Return-of-the-Falcon
a 7th round comp pick if im not mistaken....What did you expect?
UCSBDirtyBird
Very nice. Sometimes it's too easy. I did have a friend who went to U of A who called me when we drafted him. He told me then that he was nothing special and probably wouldn't make the team. Oh well, best of luck to him.

thamill
Maybe he'll make it rain with Leinart and Nick Lachey at some college party in Tempe.
odentonfalcon
There is no rule that a player is required to sign with the team that drafted him. Fontenot is from Arizona. He might have been offered a chance to sign with the Falcons, but when Arizona came calling, he went home.

He might have been offered a chance to sign with the Falcons, but when Arizona came calling, he went home.If he does not sign with the team that drafter him, he is required to reenter the draft a year later. Unless the team releases him, or trades his rights. This is simply a situation where he did sign with us, was subsequently cut, then signed with his home team. Nothing groundbreaking. wordtobigbird
im fine with not having another rookie in the secondary.
Mr. Offseason
It also means they're not afraid to say they were wrong. ding ding ding... says more about AZ than it does about us, at least negatively. we admitted we didnt think he was good enough to make the team, and AZ snatched him up because they thought he helped them. i like our corners right now though. theyre young, but i like them.our last regime could never admit that they were wrong. that is as important as anything. theres no point in hanging onto a mistake just because you are too stubborn to admit that it was one. our regime wont do that (hopefully it wont) and that is one of many reasons why i just love TD. :P

Robb4242
I liked Fontenot, bad move in my opinion.I liked him to, but he is very short. We gave him a shot, he didn't make it here, maybe in Az he can make it work.
