I took Turner in the fifth

I couldn't help it.

We held our fantasy draft on Saturday. I had Brady, Moss, Owens as my first three. I felt really loaded. I noticed several respectable RB's still available. So I decided to shore up Edgerrin James.

Then the fifth round came. Chris Cooley was still availble, but so was Jason Witten and Todd Heap. I knew I could get a decent TE as my friends were still needing receivers.

So I took Turner.

I feel pretty good about it. That and Roddy White was chosen right before my pick.

But I am looking for a little affirmation.

Ouch. No affirmation.

Not a good sign.

Turner will get a ton of carries and, likely ALL of the carries in gola-line situations. I am confident he will have a bunch of TDs on the ground. He will probably get a couple in the air as well. Based only on the pre-season, it looks like they will be significantly more creative in the short yardage situations. You are affirmed my brother.

Turner in the 5th round is a steal - i'm assuming at least a 10-team league. Michael Turner is ranked too low by all the fantasy mags and ESPN.........

RBs ranked ahead of Michael Turner who will be behind Turner on production

Brandon Jacobs

Laurence Maroney

Maurice Jones-Drew

Jamal Lewis

Willis McGahee

Thomas Jones

Willie Parker

I look for Michael Turner to post the following numbers this year:

1,200 yds rushing

10 rushing TDs

200 yds receiving

1 receiving TD

i "got stuck" with turner in the 4th of a 12 man league for the same reasons you listed crashinbird. im pretty sure its gonna turn out to be a great value. the rest of my rbs were crap though. deuce mcallister, ahman green but i got ricky williams in the last round and now hes the starter in miami. that one might be the steal of the draft for me. he just got a contract extension so he must be doing something right.

dont understand how people can play fantasy football ...If I ever heard a Falcon fan scream YESSSSS I HAVE REGGIE BUSH SCORE A TD points for my ff league he would get a round house punch to the face

That is easily solved, don't draft Reggie Bush!

LOL...I got Turner in the 5th round, pick 58 overall. I figured he is gonna get a lot of carries as the focal point of the offense. That is more than you can say than most of the other backs in the league.

It's only a game!!!!!

FF is just something that keeps me going on a yearly basis (don't see to many Falcons games over here).

I have Bush as a Keeper in one league (managed to get to the play-offs with him last year) - as long as he doesn't score against the Falcons, then listen out for me shouting ;)

Feel free to try and punch me - live in the UK, so you 'd better have long old arms :D

Let me tell you this, Coleston (sp?) was still available, but I took Issac Bruce. Also, I live in Cincinnati, Bengal country. I think Rothlesburger (sp?) was taken in the 10th round.

You can play and not draft the enemy.

Actually, I hate the Pats, but they are not in the NFC, so Brady/Moss was not too bad to take.

thats just a analogy by me I would never do harm but the mistake you made was picking Reggie Bush though

Yes turner in the fifth is a steal, but usually going QB, WR, WR is not a good idea.

I completely agree, unless you are pick nine of 12. By then, most top tier RB's are gone. So instead of taking a second tier RB first round, I take a top notch QB (Brady) and then his primary receiver (Moss) on the way back up. Brady throws a TD to Moss and I get 10 points plus yards instead of 4 points plus yards.

By then, there where still several top RB's left, but of course the best of the best were long gone anyway. So if I take owens and get 15-20 points (or more sometimes) a week instead of McGahee for 10-15 a week, I come out better.

here are our picks 1-12, and then back up 12-1 (yes, we pay only $20/person to play)

Palmer

Adrian Peterson

LT

Brian Westbrook

Joseph Addi (sp?)

Reggie Bush

Eli Manning (WTF?)

Stephan Jackson

Tom Brady (me)

Chris Perry (Live in Cincy, see what I mean?)

Romo

Frank Gore

Then back up (from 12 to 1)

Manning

Marion Barber (I know, obviously not paying attention)

Mark Buldger

Randy Moss (Me)

I got Owens next while people started to pick QB's.

**** what a coincidence i was 9th as well and went wr wr qb. i got t.o., reggie wayne, mcnabb, turner, roddy white, i figured i could pick up ricky williams late as turners backup because rb wasnt a big priority having the trade bait with reggie wayne or t.o. and a deep receiver corp. in my league running backs dont have much of a scoring advantage over wrs or qbs. peyton manning, t.o. tom brady and randy moss went in the top ten in my league.

Keep me updated on how you do. I want to know if this strategy is somewhat consistent. If it is, draft position will suddenly not mean much. Actually, the last pick may have the advantage.
