FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons today signed six players to the practice squad, claimed defensive tackle Jason Jefferson off of waivers and released defensive tackle Tim Anderson.

The Falcons practice squad this season will consist of nine players, which includes wide receiver Noriaki Kinoshita who serves as the International practice squad player. Six of the eight remaining players signed are 2008 NFL Draft seventh round selection tight end Keith Zinger, wide receiver Eric Weems, offensive lineman D’Anthony Batiste, defensive backs Glenn Sharpe and Eric Brock and defensive end Brandon Miller.

Jefferson, 6-1, 295 pounds, spent the last three seasons in Buffalo after being signed by the Bills as a free agent on October 12, 2005. In 20 career games, the Wisconsin graduate has totaled 26 tackles (nine solo).

Anderson saw action in nine games with the Falcons last season after being signed as a free agent on November 1, 2007.

No Darren Stone. Gotta be a pretty good reason, I would think..........

I'll have to dig through the rule book tomorrow, but I believe Stone was not eligible for the practice squad. I think he was active enough games last year to have one accrued season. But I'll try to remember tomorrow (book is on my desk at work somewhere).

You're slippin' J Mike. :D;)

J/K. Thanks for all you've done.

stone got a lot of fans. i liked the guy's game but im not trippin that he isnt here or on the practice squad..

His fan base grew when the video of him jumping over a car came out. If only he had jumped over the car that night he was drunk instead of driving it, he may still be on the team.

I thought a player could be on the PS until he had accrued two years of service?

The DUI did Stone in. After all the crap we went through it seems our team have a zero tolerance policy for things like that when you are battling for a roster spot. A certified starter may get the benefit of the doubt but a player on the bubble is going to get cut if they have off field issues.
