I'm not sure where the Falcons currently sit.Team that claims a player has to wait x number of hours in the event anyone above them wants a shot.I believe this to be the case. jmike811
You're right. The waiver system is in play. That's why team's can't sign players to a practice squad until Sunday afternoon. There's also a time process in place for talking with cut players. Everything has to be approved by the league first so it kind of cuts down on any mayhem or bidding wars on Saturday night. jmike811
OK, so the waiver system is in play.In simple terms, HOW does THAT work ???Basically when a player is cut he goes on waivers. That means that each team has a chance to claim his rights for a period of about 24 hours. The teams go in an order loosely based on how they finished the year before, but once you make a waiver claim your team goes to the bottom (so the order is really unknown by regular folks). If a player isn't claimed, he becomes a free agent and can sign with any team. Once a player is cut Saturday evening a team can make a waiver claim on him. The next day the league will let the teams known who wasn't claimed and they are cool to sign with anyone.

I'd love to be a "fly on the wall" in Flowery Branch, Sat. nite and Sunday.
