SacFalcFan
9-foot tapeworm came from eating bad fish, man saysAssociated PressTuesday, August 19, 2008CHICAGO — A man who contends he got a 9-foot tapeworm after eating undercooked fish has sued a Chicago restaurant. In the lawsuit filed Monday, Anthony Franz said he ordered salmon salad for lunch from Shaw’s Crab House in 2006 and fell violently ill. He later passed the giant parasite, which a pathologist determined came from undercooked fish, such as salmon.Franz’s lawsuit seeks $100,000 from Shaw’s and its parent company, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, contending the restaurant’s staff was negligent in serving him improperly cooked fish. But Carrol Symank, vice president of food safety for Lettuce Entertain You, said the tapeworm didn’t come from Shaw’s.“We have done a thorough investigation and we’re confident the restaurant is not the source,” he said.According to the Web site mayoclinic.com, tapeworms can measure up to 50 feet long. Obviously the thing was in him for quite a while, but come on! It's been 2 years! Has he not had any other food or swam in any natural body of water that might possibly result in a tapeworm for 2 years? On a related note, can you imagine having a 9 foot anything make a surprise exit from Uranus? OMG, imagine the freak out that must have insued!

OMG, imagine the freak out that must have insued! I've eaten at Shaw's. It;s one of the nicest restaurants in this town. If they undercooked his salmon and he proceeded to eat it, that's his own fault. It's pretty easy to tell when salmon is undercooked. biloxifalcon
some fun facts:What is the world's longest parasite? The world's longest parasite is the tapeworm so the next question is 'What is the world's longest tapeworm?'The longest tapeworm ever removed from a human came out of Sally Mae Wallace on September 05, 1991.In all, doctors pulled 37 feet of tapeworm out of Sally Mae Wallace's body through her mouth. If you find all of this disgusting, be glad you're not a whale as tapeworms in whales can grow up to 120 feet long. pencilpusher. just because
I wonder if eating a 9 foot tapeworm would give you tapeworms. Don't they just break off into segments and live? If so I am in trouble. Just ate at Timmy Tans house O' Tapeworm last night. Had the house special salmonella salad as a side dish with an E -ColiCola. Don't knock it. best 2.95 I ever spent.
